Hello, I have researched previous posts regarding my issue but haven't found anything particular to my problem and have find no fix. I have a 2017 GS and the voice recognition seems to work when asking for navigation or tuning to a radio station. The issue I have it's with the USB drive. Whenever I tell it tell play a particular song or artist it responds with "there is no content of this type available". I have tried smaller USB drives (8gb) and even three different formats. I've put only two songs on even just so it's not searching. Bottom line is it continues to give the same response. It just isn't user friendly with the media section.Has anyone else had this USB problem or any fix?
Are you using playlists? My 2019 GS fails to complete indexing if there is a corrupt play list. You can see the indexing fail if you add a song or album and the rotating circle never stops. Curiously I did not have the problem with my previous 2014 Z51.
I deleted ALL playlists and voice recognition works 90% of the time.
I haven't used playlists and not really sure how to set those up. As for the USB drive, I can see it and all the songs on the display when I search. I can scroll to find a song or artist but if course that's a pain and not safe of course while driving. Just odd how it never plays a song I was ask it to. I'll say "play....(whatever song or artist) and it's always the same response that there's no content of this type.
This sure sounds like an indexing problem. When you add a file or folder do you see the rotating "wait" circle when you first insert the USB drive? Try a different USB socket maybe?
Forgive me, but I'm kinda lost on the adding files or playlists. Is that a process that needs to be done once they drive is inserted? If so, how do I go about doing that?
Adding files (songs) is done on your PC by copying from the PC or "ripping" a CD to your USB drive. Typically you have one folder for each album or one folder for each artist with a subfolder for each album. You will only see the circle when info is added or deleted from the USB. In general, the more files, the longer indexing will take - but still less than a couple minutes.
If you are like me, I don't use playlists since I prefer to hear the entire album. (You generate playlists using Windows media player or any of a bunch of utilities and media players.) I was having an issue where my 2014 Z51 and 2014 Acadia did not seem to index the same and tried playlists. Solved the problem until I got the 2019. Since both now have browsing by folder, that's how I typically search from the HMI.
Just realized - depending on the songs you are copying and how the file is structured, you may not get all of the hidden data needed for indexing. Just for fun, try ripping a music CD onto your computer hard drive using Windows media player. Then copy that folder to the USB.
