Been there and done that. It's hilarious, there was an Amsoil ad at the bottom of the page when I first read this thread.

I'm a wimp. I never make it to 0. The damn thing starts nagging me at 5% or so and I hate being nagged! I change it to just shut it up!

Change at the 10k mark for all three of our cars regardless of time (usually at around the two year mark). All use Mobil1. Never a problem.

While the power train is under warranty, I'd hate for there to be an engine failure, and then my oil change receipts to show I had ignored the Oil Life Monitor. So I follow the indicated life, even if the oil has only a few thousand miles.
