How far past 500 miles can you go on the first oil change? I won't be able to get it in until it has about 1,000 on it. No appointments were available until the 18th and I have to continue to drive the new Z06 until then. I have two other cars, but I gave the Stingray to my grandson to test out. And the other car is down in Palm Springs with my wife. Don't want to rent a car. Thanks.
I was told not to go over the 500 miles with my Z06 before the first oil change. The exact reason escapes me but it had something to do with seals, etc. Sorry not much help but I would not go 1000 miles without the service.
I would call the dealer and speak with one of the Corvette techs for a full explanation behind the 500 mile requirement.
As long as your not revving the engine up I'm sure you'd be fine. But I'd be concerned about the warranty. GM could deny a warranty claim if you have a major engine issue.
Fortunately, my 2017 and my girlfriend's 2019 Stingray are both non-Z51 cars & neither of them have a dry-sump oil system. No issue with the 500-mile oil change for either of us.
Fellow Corvette club members who DO have the Z06, Grand Sport or Z51 Stingray have all said that they got theirs done right at 500 miles. So long as your car was not driven extremely hard or tracked, I doubt you will have an issue waiting until 1,000 miles. Still, better safe than sorry and - as others have said - you may have an issue with the warranty if something went wrong.
I bought my 2017 used - 900 miles. The 500 mile oil change had not been done. By the time I drove it from Pittsburgh to Frederick MD and took the family for a ride I had the oil changed at 1,200 - Criswell Chevrolet said it did not affect my warranty.
Had our 2019 GS done today at 633 miles....first service appt...check in dude said my car came with 2 free oil changes. Thanks to reading threads here, I learned of the dry sump 500 mile oil change and got it taken care of.
its the wifeys daily driver / grocery-getter so not sure when to get free oil change #2; maybe just wait til oil life monitor tells me to...
I realize the 500 mile change would be one of your free oil changes but if you are that worried take it to an independent corvette shop for the 500 mile change. You do not have to go to the dealer. Then, when the next change is due, go to the dealer and get your first free oil change. Just save the independent shops invoice.

Congrats on your new C7!
Follow the OLM or perform the oil changes annually.
I believe for 2019 they changed the verbiage stating that the two oil changes are free only within the first two years from the in service date.
dvilin, I was told it had to do with gasket sealant foaming and the wanted contaminants out of oil. Right or wrong ? But that's what I was told reason for 500 mile oil change.

I bought my 2018 Carbon 65 Z06 in Indiana and drove it back to Texas. While in Indiana, at the dealership, I spoke with the service manager about the 500-mile oil change requirement and the fact that it was much further than 500 miles to my home. The service manager advised me to stop along the way and either have a dealership change the oil, or have an oil changing service facility change the oil, and keep my receipts.
He told me there wouldn't be an issue with the warranty if a problem developed that was NOT oil-related, but that if I did have a problem that could be tied to an oil foaming problem (the reason for the 500 mile change) then the warranty probably would NOT be honored.
Since it was a Sunday, I stopped at an oil change service facility and got the proper oil/filter changed at 490 miles.
The 500 mi oil change is free, do it or don’t do it, totally up to you.
‘Don’t care what the dealer says, when it comes down to it, not doing something recommended by GM is just ammo for them when something happens. Not saying it could go bad but this is black and white and money outta their pocket (GM) trumps
If not done at the dealer then documentation is your friend
I cannot believe your dealer is booked up for oil changes till the 18th. You may be put off because you had it shipped from out of state. I would go in the morning and say I wanted an oil change today. I will wait! By the way, my 2016 Stingray is a twin to yours.
Since you are waiting a bit (my z06 at 900+ miles) go ahead and request the free alignment check. At 500 miles my dealer advised my brother on his Z that they preferred to allow a bit more suspension "settling in" 900 miles was ok. And just like the Z51 before it, my Z06 was out of factory spec alignment. Fixed for free. Ask if they can do the rear caster alignment too. Failure to have the rear caster to factory spec is like turning your 2019 Z06 into a 1963 Porsche 911. (snap oversteer)
there is a vid that surfaced again a month ago on the forum, showing a snap oversteer meeting in the field of a Z06. thread #6
I hope this helps:
Page 23 - In Brief -- 2019 CV Owners Manual says -
Dry Sump Engine Break-In Oil
Change
If equipped with a dry sump engine,
the initial oil and filter change must
be performed at 800 km/500 mi.
Follow the engine oil life system for
every oil change thereafter.
The part that bothers me is use of the word "must" -- My opinion as an Aviation Technical Manual Writer is, it doesn't leave any wiggle room in the future for argument with a ***** Regional GM adjuster that might make the final decision on who pays for a major engine repair/replacement if it should happen. Hopefully, it never does. In my business (Aviation) the word "must" in a manual or procedure requirement is not debatable. - tom
