It's been cold here in Kansas City, Missouri.

I can't drive my Stingray right now-even if we had good weather....

I haven't told you guys this, but on January 7th, I had open heart surgery to repair a mitral valve in the lower chamber of my heart. The 6-1/2 hour surgery was successful. But recovery takes time. I couldn't drive a car for 2 weeks. Now I've been cleared to drive, but getting in and out of cars is now different for me. With the Corvette being so low, I can get in and sit in the car, but getting out of the car is a whole different story. I cannot pull myself out of any car with my arms. I need to not pull out of a car with my arms because my sternum was opened up for the surgery. It is now wired shut-my sternum will take about a year or so to fuze together again. I'll have these wires in my chest for the rest of my life. But if I screw up the wires holding my chest together.....lucky me-I get to have another surgery!

I'm recovering well-as a matter of fact, the doctors said I'm a freak of nature. Most people take 6-8 weeks to recover. They released me to go back to work and drive a car after only 3 weeks.

So, for now, the Carbon Fiber Edition sits in it's new garage (my wife and I moved into a new house the week before Christmas). She is covered and hooked up to a charger. I'm not sure when I'll try to get in her and drive.....but I can't wait.

Here in the mid-Atlantic this has been a record good Corvette winter. I drove mine about a dozen times in December and maybe just a few less in January, all on the OEM PSS tires. If it's above 35 or 40 and sunny, I take her out. Luckily we haven't had to shovel anything yet and only had brine down once or twice. Hope this continues. Although this week we are deluged with days of heavy rain. Starting to get cabin fever...

S. MI. and I too was able to drive mine quite a bit more than usual this winter.

It was mentioned earlier in the thread; when did it become sacrilegious to drive your CV in the winter? Way back when, I drove my 73 year round. Much higher ground clearance etc. etc. but still snow, salt, holes in the road and it sat outside. I cleared the snow and ice off and went to work.

Thank you, guys! I appreciate the well wishes. I think I'm about 80% - 85% back to normal. I'm doing my best to be smart and not push things too much. I'm truly blessed to be alive and recovering so well and quickly.

Lol ! I know what you mean, had a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack, went to Tremblant with my brother's Z06, chewed up half my left front tire in 3 20 minute sessions, rode shotgun in a Z06/Z07 and 2 weeks later was driving a 2017 GS/Z07 !

I feel you, got back into a Vette in October, drove back from Muskegon to Auburn Hills in my new-to-me Z06 only to put it in storage. Hopefully only a month and some change to go.

Steven, I regret that you needed cardiac surgery. I am glad you are recovering so well. I will pray for your continued recovery. I had numerous back surgeries that included thoracic approach surgery with lots of metal front and back. "Moderation" is the operative word when it comes to entry and egress from a Corvette. Your body will grow tissue around the clips or wires but that takes a couple years. You will develop your lower body muscles and your own technique getting out of your Corvette and you will be fine. Good health to you!
