Default Engine temp...Florida guys

Hate to beat a dead horse ,wondering about normal temps.....Fl. Averages about 82 to 92 in the summer and most of the winter. My 2015 has a heavily modified engine (see signature). Around Town it’s around 198 to 204. ..no AC..heavy traffic or waiting on bridge opening etc. it goes as high as 218. drive for a quarter mile it’s back down again...Open road it stays around 195 deg....Not sure what thermostat they put in the 416 Stroker...I’m assuming a180......Am I about normal???...not me🙄 the car....

My car is bone stock and usually hovers around 175 degrees in the winter and 175-180 (stop and go traffic) in the summer.

If you don't have AC on I think its gonna fluctuate with temps like you reported. I usually have my AC on and its around 185 or so. We have similar summer temps as you do. Your car temps seem normal. I assume the fans are not on most of the time?

I don't know where you are in Florida but here in Mosquito County it is about 105 degrees 5 months out of the year! The Tourist Weathermen report 92 or the Tourists would run away with their $.

My '15 was bone stock and would have about them temps, but I run AC all the time as I have no desire to burn to a crisp! I have no idea how anyone runs around here in the summer without AC on, but I see the Tourons run around in their convertibles all summer long getting roasted.

I installed a Dewitts drop in 2nd generation radiator and swapped out the thermostat with a 170. I did not tune to drop the fan kick on temp. The car runs about 178 when in motion and goes up to 190 at the 10 minute stop lights here. Might go to 200 in the usual Death Race 2000 - aka the I4 improvement project when it is stop and stop some more because someone is getting scraped off some highway construction barrier one a week. .

So yours sounds pretty normal to me.

I’m in West Palm Beach ,I’m kinda Old school!!......I like to roll up the windows and pretend I have the AC on 🙄😜.....I think a little of the problem is the SC Intercooler....It was real bad in my C6 because it stood up in front of the Radiator and blocked a lot of air flow...With the A&A...It lays flat under the radiator on C7....
Its 78 here today and it wasn’t running real hot..I’m sure it will be Ok.

Thanks again

I'm in S.C. and it gets hot in summer and temps seem normal. These cars are designed to run pretty hot. 190 to 220 not unusual in stop and go traffic. I had a C5 that they made an aftermarket mod called coolet it mod and 10 minute job to install in fuse box that allowed me to pull the fans on with a fob anytime I wanted. Wish they had it for C7 but never seen one.

How old is the coolant? I'm assuming that when you modified the motor the cooling system was drained and refilled with new. So couple years? Unless it looks bad its probably fine and not needing to be flushed.

How can anybody answer this when you don’t even know what thermostat is in it?

My ‘14 vert runs at 220. Doesn’t matter what the ambient temp is, whether the AC is on, or anything else.

175-195 is the norm for me 180-190 is most all the time unless getting on it.

My stock Z51 in normal traffic down here in South FL = 185 to 205. Time of year or ambient temp doesn't seem to effect it once its warmed up. It will creep higher if your more aggressive of course but then comes back down. For example on track it will get as high as 230.

The 2014 analog temp gauge is not accurate that 220 reading is false... read this: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...temp-high.html the digital read out is correct and will be about 20 degrees cooler.

Thanks everybody........the norm it seems is 185 to 220..........That's kinda what I expected...No two cars are alike. Waiting on a gauge pod now will have a Autometer Digital Cobalt water temp gauge as one of the gauges and will check it to the cars gauge...?????
