I’m sorry. It happens to the best of us. Fortunately it is pretty big so shouldn’t be too bad to find. Jack it up and remove the shield if you can’t see from up top.

Sorry. Been there done that. Take a deep breath, have something to drink, then dig in there and find it. You don't want a wrench around those belts and pulleys.

Good plan. Find it first. Did you hear it hit the floor by chance because they can bounce a lot further than seems to make sense. Since it's chrome, and nothing in the engine is, try killing the lights in the garage and search with flashlight.

I know how you feel - there have been a number of times where I have dropped something (wrench, bolt, etc) and it seems like it took forever to find it. Keep searching - I would bet you will find it.

We have all done it, many more than once.

A strong magnet on the end of a telescoping rod is of great help in these situations once you locate it.

You will find it. Just be patient and methodical in searching.

And congratulations on your first mod!

Do you have one of those telescoping magnets, probe around . Try your leaf blower ( might be a bit messy ) with dust. Jack up the car and use jack stands and look from the bottom up and feel around from the bottom up. Remove the front wheel !!
Good luck !!

I think that everyone of us has done this at one time or another.

My personal f*@ckup is setting a tool down for a minute, and then spending 1/2 hour looking for it.

I dropped a bolt the other day with my car. I used and endoscope camera and found it behind and under a bracket. Without that I would never have found it. You can get a cheap scope for 25 bucks or so. Got this and it works great

. Well worth it for me.

Something that big should be easy to find. Some good ideas above.

Years ago I dropped a socket into the bay of my SRT8 and it landed on something near the bottom of the rad no way I could reach it nor could I get it from beneath the car. I got a rope and a magnet and fished it out. LOL.

Good luck.

C7MEDIC;

*Happens all the time!*

I prefer using Snap-on, Mac, or SK wrenches for wrenching, which are not cheap. However, your 1/2 looks very inexpensive, and I would not spend much time trying to find it.
Just replace it.

It will inevitability show up sooner or later?

It is important not to get discouraged. You are learning and that is excellent.

Many thanks,

Ray

Where do you think all of those “road find” wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers come from? LOL. I have a very nice Snap On screwdriver and a 3/8” drive ratchet that I found on the road.

Smart move to install the AFE CAI. Installed it long ago in my C7 Z06. Also installed a Tony Mamo TB. Great combination - definitely notice the difference. Key is that I never had a problem with codes as I have state testing to deal with. Nonetheless there is variability model year. Check the test results and you will see a nice benefit for low cost and ease of installation.
