Besides a thorough cleaning, did you do any prep (like sanding) to the tips before spraying the primer?

And is that a gloss black or a matte (it looks like gloss)?

Again - well done.

I agree. There are too many round tips in one place. Sorta like this....

Gloss is best. Matte makes the tips look really grubby.

Thanks!

No sanding, just cleaned the surface area with carb cleaner. I used four coats of primer and four coats of the enamel. Color is gloss black.

The tips were the only thing on my car that was stainless/chrome, so they looked a bit out of place.

And not having to clean them after every drive will be nice too.

Definitely a plus.

Looks like you folded the newspaper back as far as you could so that you could spray the outsides of the tips as well. I'm guessing you also sprayed whatever else was back there that didn't get protected? It wouldn't matter at all, of course, and make the whole thing look even darker.

Just got my carb cleaner, primer, and gloss black paint.

Ready for my project!

That is awesome. Can you get them in Black or were they painted by the owner. Maybe powder coated?

You can order them in black (BBexhaust.com) which I did, but they screwed up and sent the polished stainless tips instead so I am having them powder coated locally with a ceramic black coating.

One question - the directions indicate it takes 7 days for the paint to fully cure. Did you park your car for a week, run the engine to accelerate the curing, or something in between? And how is it holding up, eight months down the road?

It's totally a personal preference thing, but I don't get the black pipe thing.
To me the C7 rear end is one of it's most beautiful attributes and the four pipes greatly contribute to that IMO. However, you paint the pipes black and they almost disappear.

Got the Borla S in March with the intercooled tips , they shipped 2 systems , both the tips were scratched to hell in shipping, just be advised , look before you book the install. They took great care of me when I elected to keep 2nd system and have the tips powder coated . You will not be disappointed with the Borla system!!
