I never thought I would have to post something like this. Sadly Sunday night severe storms rolled through my area causing significant damage. Every building and vehicle on my property was damage. In the case of my GS, the 100 foot tall, 100 year old oak tree in my yard was uprooted and blown over. They finally dug it out from under the garage roof and tree today along with my wife's car. I hope its not totaled but its pretty damaged. Just wanting some opinions while I wait for the adjuster.
There is pretty significant body damage, the front bumper, front fenders and back hatch are toast. Surprisingly the hood appears undamaged. Both front and rear glass is busted, along with the rear spoiler. Side skirts are okay other than being scratched. The hood and both doors open and close normally, except the passenger window won't roll up or down although I can hear it trying. I didn't try the rear hatch. The top has a dent and is pushed down a little, not sure if that can be fixed or not. I opened the hood and see nothing damaged or out of place. The car starts, runs and drives with no fault codes.
No water damage, just glass everywhere on the inside. The fact that it starts, runs and drives okay with no fault lights and no leaks has me optimistic. Ton of body work though.
Ouch. Im sorry to hear this. Body panels can be replaced. Unlikley there is damage under which is the tough part. As noted above, water damage will be the decider.
From the photos the damage looks not only extensive but unrepairable. At least one A-Pillar looks tweaked/bent and the roof structure looks tweaked too which are not easily repaired. There may also be significant structural damage underneath where the tree landed on the fender, hood and window.
You’ll need to shop around in order to find a quality reputable shop although depending on how wide the damage in your area is it may be a while before you will be able to get it to a shop.
Personally I would hope it is totaled. I wouldn’t want if back after it was fixed, my OCD couldn’t handle it. Sorry this happened, hopefully a good payout and move on.
Sad pictures...
It appears that the tree missed most of the under-the-skin components that can run the bill up... Looks like body panels and glass but minor structural damage, if that. Please update the thread as the situation warrants
Pics of a C7 below the skin...
So sorry to hear this and glad you are fine. It's better to total it and look for a replacement ASAP specially if you want a new C7 as stock is limited.

Hate to see those pics - has to be heartbreaking to see the car in that condition. Glad you and your family are OK, but it will probably be very close to qualifying as a total. Best of luck with the insurance company and then whatever course you decide to take.
I have had much less damage to another car of mine that was hit in a parking lot. Since it was a late model CUV the insurance company totaled it. I believe your car is unfortunately totaled and in the long run that will probably be better for you. It would take many parts, a outstanding body shop "which are hard to find" that can repaint the entire car to make it whole again. Even after that there would probably be fit issues, rattles etc. I am so sorry for your pain here but I think your insurance company should total the car. In the long run it could be the best thing for you.
But unlike many others in the SE, thankfully you and your family were not hurt. The car can be replaced. Hopefully they will total it and you can look forward to a fresh start after hopefully a short wait without too much aggravation. If they don't total it, I would drive it straight from the body shop and trade it right in.
That won't buff out
Good luck in your search for a new ride.
