Who is a member of the flying hats club?
I was driving my 15 vert recently with the top down going about 45 when my baseball cap with the Corvette logo flew off on a moderately traveled road. I had to make a quick decision if it was worth it to circle back and get out of my car to retrieve it as it was in the other lane on the other side of the road. Since it was in perfect condition and I really liked the cap I circled back and noticed that no one had hit it. Got it back in perfect shape. This was the 2nd time this happened to me and the hat was never hit either time. Who else is a member of this club? Did you have a targa or a vert? Just curious.

I recently lost my Corvette hat going about 70MPH in my C3. Luckily, it flew off the road and onto the grassy shoulder. I was able to retrieve it unscathed. It’s my favorite Corvette hat. Now, I take it off if doing more than 50MPH.

1969, 1999, 2013 GS and 2019 GS all convertibles. I have not lost a hat because I wear my Army desert boonie hat and use the draw string under my chin. Pretty much fool proof. My wife has been a victim once. 30 MPH on a city street with very light traffic. Circled back and picked it up. It was on the side of the street. No damage. Happy wife, happy life.

They make a little lanyard with a clip on both ends - mainly for boaters, but I've seen them with Corvette logos as well. Clip one end on the back of your cap, and the other to the back of your shirt collar. You'll never lose another cap.

I am a member but not the way you think
I had cowboy hat in the back of my coupe, returning home after a show-and-shine and had the top off. The hat was in the very back but darn if the wind didn't scour it out and up and over the halo it went!

My Corvette hat flew off my head this afternoon on my daily bike ride. It flew into the middle of a fairly busy street. I hit the brakes on the bike. And, I tempted fate to retrieve the hat. I would have walked on hot coals thru the bowels Hell to get that frickin' hat back.

Luckily I have not had my hat blown off when my targa top has been off the car, but I can't say it hasn't been a close call a couple of times.

No.
It scrunches my convertible curls/ragtop mop down. I drive free! I've even gotten out of a ticket by letting my ginger loose!
Mr.owc6, on the other hand, has lost no fewer than three caps. All with Crossed flags on them.
eta: Found this pic. Rarely ride in the C7, btw.

I had one fly off once. Fortunately a little up the road there was a place to turn around and go back. I retrieved it untouched by tires. The only reason I had the hat on was it was very sunny out and my hair is starting to get sparse on top.

Not in my Vettes, or any other vehicle, except... in my '66 Excalibur roadster with the windshield laid down flat, just once though!

I have not lost a cap in my C7Z coupe with the roof off. However, I did lose two caps in my C5 vert. Both times driving on the expressway at high(er)way speeds.
One was an older golf cap that I didn't mind losing, but one was a favorite New Era baseball cap. The traffic was pretty heavy and I was moving pretty well so there was no going back for it.
Note - To me, it happened when I looked sideways or reached for something as the cross winds in the cockpit would lift up the cap.

We keep a pair of ball caps in the car to shield our faces from direct sun on bright days with the top removed.
At speeds up to about 60 mph, no problem with hat flying. Above that, I need to keep the cap on tight and avoid looking up at the sky.
