Default Question On Removable Top

2019 1lt Stingray coupe: I’ve read a post that using rubber o rings on the front “pins” stops top rattling. On my top there are conical rubber grommets. Will o rings be of any use to stop rattling?

I thought I read that someone put shrink tube on the pins but that was about a million posts ago. It's a little foggy. I know there are cheap mods you can do that work.

People have done this in my group and it has worked well. My C7 does not make noise but the C6 does and nothing seemed to work.

The O-Ring is a common fix.

I never had to use the rings but had issues with the rubber seals being dry. I used the Gummi Pflege applicator on all the rubber seals and
that helped me out.

Good luck!

O-rings worked for me. They have to be large enough not to slip down through the hole at the base of the conical receiver.

There's a latch fix... I did it to my C6 early on and drove it another 128,000 rattle free miles

No noise from my top yet, but will keep the o-ring fix in mind should I need it.

To be more specific... sometimes one full-turn of the rear latch, tighter, will help, too.

My '19 had some nasty squeaks/rattles which sounded like they were all over the interior.
I removed the top, cleaned all the contacting rubber surfaces then applied three coats of
303 weatherstrip protectant 303 weatherstrip protectant
, allowing it to dry in between coats. I also tightened the aft latch a turn and it's been silent since...

With your ride being so new, seems you’d be able to get a fix from the dealer. I had mine “repaired” back in 2015.

Happy driving!

I have had good success using clear color dielectric grease on the seals, front latch rollers, grommets, and even rear pins.

Can the rear latch be turned without un-tightening a retaining screw? There looks like one at the base of the latch.

If you have the rubber grommets on the front posts do you still need rubber o rings to stop the rattling?

Two very small dabs of bearing grease in the right places on the locking lever pads does wonders....

The set screw is usually tight enough that you can't turn the "hook" to adjust tension, without loosening the screw. It's a small metric Allen wrench.
You can adjust the rear latch without removing the top, but be careful not to loosen the screw any more than necessary- it can fall out and disappear forever.
If your are going to experiment with adjustments, the hook will stay put enough to do some testing without tightening the screw until you decide what tension to use.
My experience 2001/2006/2009/2017- slightly loose is better than a bit too tight. Keep track of which way you are turning it (1 turn either way is usually the limit) so you can go back to original.

Also, I use Dielectric Silicone Grease on the rubber, but DSG is squeaksville on the latches. Super Lube paste works well on the latches for me.
