My 2017 Z vert with 3LZ has not experienced this issue....YET. And hopefully it never does. But I am certainly aware of the possibility of it occurring at any time. My car rarely sits outside and when it does the top is up, windshield shade(UVS100) is on, and windows are tinted 5%. My personal belief is that heat from the beat down of direct sunlight is the culprit. Also, what I have not seen mentioned as a possible cause is the heavy use of the defroster during the cold weather. Seems the defroster vent area is where most of the dashes delaminate. Quite possible this contributes to it.
I’d like to think that with all of the instances of this problem occurring, there would be enough info on what these cars are exposed to(heat, sun, cleaning chems, storage)to narrow down a cause. So while I hate to see all the brawling on these threads, I still read through all of the posts to gather information on keeping it from occurring to my car.
It's a manufacturing/design defect. Unless you think its normal to have a car you have to keep out of the sun and/or avoid temperature variances.

It's pretty obvious it's a manufacturing defect. And I don't think it's normal to have to go to great lengths to keep it out of the sun. But seeing as I already own this thing and it hasn't happened yet, I'll do what I have to do to keep it from happening. Unless you have a better idea...

Heh heh no man, you have the right idea, you are obviously aware of the problem so you are doing what you can to avoid the issue, and I hope you do avoid the issue.
My post was more directed at those who are pretending there is no issue. Good luck bud.
My dash started peeling up in 2020, naturally out of the bumper to bumper warranty. I do have an extended warranty on the car but from what I have been told by GM is that it doesn't cover cosmetic damage. Totally unacceptable if this is a widely known fact for 3LT owners! This should have a recall put out for replacement! GM wanted to give me a whopping $300 to go towards the repairs..... woo hoo! My car is always parked inside and when I am at work, which is part time, it has the sun shade up. The repairs are going to cost $3000+.... Boy, that $300 is going to go far! Any help that anyone can offer is greatly appreciated. Signed, Totally Disgusted 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Sorry to hear this about your car. Since this thread started there's been many more cars reported in other threads with the same issue and no real answers on the root cause. There's even been reports of the '18 and newer cars with the "improved"(?) dash where it has occurred. Luckily this has not happened to my car yet. But I still keep an eye on it daily and keep it out of the heat. Maybe that's helped. Not really sure.
I've had three dashes replaced under warranty, the last one and the current one are the latest part number with the staples and exactly one year after the third dash failed (it did not come lose at the defroster vent like the first two) a bubble formed on the passenger main section. My dealer replaced the third one under warranty but found out that GM corporate denied the claim. The fourth one is now coming loose at the defroster vents like the first two, so if it gets bad, I will just remove the vent and attempt to re glue it, as it is no worst than the first two failures. I talked to the tech at the dealership that did the last replacement and he said he was not surprised, as he has already had a call about C8's with the leather shrinking on the dash on a 3LT. He said it is easier to do the C8 because it is not as labor intensive and the area that is affected is smaller.

I am seriously thinking about doing the same thing you did, removing the dash vent and gluing it myself! It sounds like to me that GM is not going to stand behind their product and is making everyone who wanted the higher end vette suffer the consequences 🙄🙄
Just curious, but has Tadge ever addressed this issue? I know that since the C8 came out, he doesnt' give a hoot about C7's. C7's are already sold, and the money is in GM's bank.

Who's Tadge? Sorry, not really literate on Corvette language, lol. 😊

I am going to be having my second dash replaced in the near future, Given the fear of repeated failures, I asked about replacing the 3LT dash with the 2LT dash as I plan to keep the car for a long time and don't want to keep going through this process. My request was denied, but wondering if reconsideration could be made in the case of those who have suffered this issue more than once. Feel free to PM if there's anything you can do, otherwise, I'll just wait for the replacement to come in.

My son, after two failures, went with a 2Lz dash for the third. He had to buy it on his own and have it installed. If you are not OCD the slight difference won't bother you. It would have to be pointed out.

I have heard this to be the case regarding owners having to buy their own dash. In general, I am a little OCD and being a former detailer doesn't help, but the stress of the 3LT failure outweighs the slight difference in appearance I think.
In my case, I'm not out any money for the replacement of my existing 3LT. Just bothers me that GM won't officially admit there's an issue and because of that, won't replace the failure prone dash for one that wont.
All of this, dash issues, reminds me of the guy whose wife cheated on him, not once, not twice but more time and the guy going to her parents and asking them to do something!
Me, I would divorce that b$&%h and marry someone from another family….may not be as beautiful but certainly more dependable..
Guys I have the same issue with my 2013 60th Ann. The leather is separating from the dash. I have been checking around my area (south west Michigan) and so far, I can't anyone who will even touch it. I checked with my dealer and a replacement dash is no longer available. Does anyone out there have any ideas on how fix this or know someone who might be able to help. Thanks Dan
I have recently experience the leather separating on my 18 Z06. I'm currently having it replaced by the local dealership but its about a 2 month wait for the dashboard. Does anyone know if this issue was resolved by GM. Seems to be a common issue.

They told you 2 months? They ordered mine last year and I was told August?
