Hi, I have a 2019 Grand Sport and recently received a letter from Chevrolet offering the navigation system update for $99.99. They send it to you on a USB stick. Anybody get this update, and is it worth it?

I got the same letter last week. Back in 2018 I received a similar offer and updated the Nav in both the C7 and my Impala. Easy to do and I feel that the Nav worked better after the update than it did on the stock version. However, when I installed mine, the original versions were 6 and 5 years old so I’m sure a lot of things on the database changed. Yours being a ‘19, I’m not sure if it would be worth it since your car is so new.
Personally I would wait for the next update. Some never update it because they use phone for navigation. Just depends on how dependent you are on the Nav.

For $99 that's a bargain! How did you swing that deal? I always get Nav updates. It's really impossible for anyone to keep up with all road improvements/changes across North America. It would be difficult to assess the worth of any update. I'd take that deal in a heartbeat. It took about a hour to perform the install if you decide to get the update.
Check what version you have first. See what's in the car. If the offer is for a newer version, maybe get it. I go every other year on updates to the NAV.
For the person who asked about 99. Usually a few times a year the Nav update will be offered for 99. Generally, someone here will post the info. I bet if you go to the site now it will be 99. I agree with others who mentioned since you corvette is a 19 I would wait. Mine is an 18 and I skipped the the first one and updated last year for 99.
Sure, there are a lot of updates every year. That's what they brag about. But how many updates pertain to you? Most of them don't affect you at all. If you live in Seattle all those updates pertaining to Jacksonville, Florida are unlikely to affect you, not to mention 99% of the rest of the continent. Further, some of the stuff that SHOULD be updated is skipped. I have a state highway near me where the speed limit changed from 55 to 50 over five years ago. The Nav system still shows 55. It cannot be trusted. I do not know which database these guys tap for their updates, but they are not up to date at all.
That's not to say an update is not useful. I like the way the system is integrated. It's a breeze compared to using your phone with wires everywhere or Android Auto, or Waze because guess what? They have the same problems with being up to date. I use my phone with my truck, an older Silverado, and Google Maps has that same highway at 55. I hear people claim "Google Maps" is always updated!" Really/ No, it is not. So bought the update. I have a '17 and my guess it has '16 data. I figure once every 4-5 years is not such a bad deal.
Make sure your car doesn't already have what they are offering loaded in the system now. Go to the GM web site and check the part number of the 2020 file then go to your car and check the file currently loaded into the Nav system. To check the software level on the Home Screen Select Settings, Then on the Settings Screen select Software Information (you may need to scroll down to see this selection). Under Software Information look for Map Information and see what part number is listed for the current map software.
The Map Update does nothing to improve the Navigation System's looks or processes. It is a map update only. However, new roads may change how the system will route you when on a trip.
I doubt there will be an update past the 2020 version. The car is out of production and once that happens they don't provide any subsequent map updates. Just like all of the other OEMs. Out of production means out of mind. There are no more updates available for the C6 generation. The last update was in 2013 and it is no longer available.
I have a 2015 GMC Terrain Denali and there are no more updates for it's navigation system.
I recommend grabbing what will likely be the last update available before they run out of stock. The sales always occur when they are trying to get rid of excess inventory.
I used to do the updates... never again. My '19, unlike my '15, has car play... don't see that I'll ever use the onboard system again as Waze, accessed through your phone, is so much better....

My 2020 Nav update is GM part # 84667844. Paid $159.99 plus shipping. Is there more than one update for 2020?
