I am wondering if anyone has confirmation on what causes the 2014 C7 overheating issues which is caused by the radiator fan not turning on?
My car is also having this issue. I was on a long trip and got stuck in traffic. I noticed the car was running hotter than normal and I pulled over. I popped the hood and noticed that the radiator fan was not running. I turned the car off and let it sit for a few minutes and turned it back on and the fan turned on full blast and the car cooled right down. Definitely seems like a software glitch.
I have a 2014, I changed the fan in my garage. GM couldn't find the problem so there is nothing wrong. You are NOT having those issues, that's what GM said to me.
I have not had a repeat episode since the fan was changed. Almost 3 years now.

I had the issue occur three times in my 2014 Z51 M7, I finally ordered the Z06 600W fan and will install it this weekend, for peace of mind. Got it from RockAuto (P/N 84486698).
Exact same issue here. Ordered my new fan unit from RockAuto. $190 I think.
Fairly easy swap out. the damn electrical plug is the only thing I had an issue with. Took me an unnecessary amount of time getting the old one to disconnect. Otherwise, like eboggs said. One hour or so.
I did mine about 6 months ago. She hasn't even remotely overheated.
If you've ever hemorrhaged coolant during the overheats, be sure to check your coolant level after the new fan is in. Mine was WAY lower than I had expected.

Elmer, new fan still working correctly? I have same car, almost 40k miles now, and it overheated twice coming back from National Corvette Caravan. Same deal, fan not coming on all the time, especially after coming off highway and getting stuck in traffic. I see one poster got his from Rock Auto, may I ask where you got yours? I'm sure prices are much higher now, looks like these fans are well over 400 bucks now. I plan on installing it myself, any suggestions?
I had this issue with my 14 earlier this summer. Went thru all the threads about it and replaced my fan with the 600w Z06 fan. No issues since. This past weekend drove to Niagara Falls, 5 hours interstate driving into a 1/2 stop at the border and no overheating.
The one problem you will have when ordering the Z06 fan is that they will tell you it won't fit a non Z06. Tell them you want it anyway it does fit and will WORK. Takes 45-60 minutes to install. Many YouTube videos on it.

Thanks VetteRich. You have a link to the one you bought, or did you buy from GM?

Sorry for the terrible news, but Elmer (aka eboggs_jkvl) passed away on 8/20/24. May he RIP.
I ordered from an online chevy dealer, but you can order from different sources. Just be sure to get the correct part, Part Number 84486698 ..... $354.28
That's the part number and what I paid. As I have said before if you buy from a site that asks for your vin, they will come back and tell you it won't fit.....disregard...it will and does fit
Rock Auto is calling for a 15-81914, which is also an 84128344, which is also an 84486698. All are listed as the 600 watt motor. Their list is $270.79. Calling it a “GM Genuine” part.
Anybody have anything different or reason not to order it?
My 14 did overheat once after coming off a highway run, before I knew to simply shut it off, open the door and restart it. I need to replace it if this is a correct part.
Answering myself here. I ordered the fan from rock auto. (What a sad experience that was- I’ll be very hesitant to order from them in the future. 1 part broken beyond repair and the other was an open box- sold as NIB.)
The “GM Direct” fan is an actual GM fan made by Spal, just like the one I removed. The 600W unit seems as quiet as the original 500W unit.
Replacement is easy other than the fan harness clip attached to the lower passenger side of the fan unit. That was miserable to get out and broke before I got it released.
The other oddity was the intake pipe/tubing had maybe 3 oz of oil in it. MUCH more than I’ve seen before. I’d recommend turning it so the inlet (airbox end) is up and the intake end is down allowing it to drain while you replace the fan unit. The oil collected in the resonator pockets will drain out.
Happen to me once 3 months ago and never happened again. If it does I'll replace the fan. Wife turmed on the heat on her side on a 90 degree day. She's always cold when the top is down. Pulled over stopped and restarted the car and the fan kicked on full blast.
Mine only did it once as well. Except it was during a small vacation trip and I hadn’t read anything previous about the issue. I didn’t want it to happen again, so I replaced it.
If you do get this overheating problem the quick fix is to stop, turn car off, open door, wait a minute then restart and the fan will then mysteriously then work.
Best solution is to replace the fan with the Z06 unit
Got the Z06 fan from Rock Auto, was surprised to see it is a Spal, Italy fan. all the GM parts websites are advertising this fan as genuine GM fan, although it has no GM markings, I did get the 600w Z06 fan. Installing on Monday.

I don't know HOW the hell I missed this. RIP Elmer. If he was anything like me, he would get a chuckle knowing people on the forum were reaching out to him in the great beyond to ask him Corvette questions!
Well, thanks again Elmer, RIP buddy, but you left a bit of legacy. New fan works like a charm, no issues with the extra current draw using the Z06 fan, which was actually cheaper than the OEM fan.
