I do not place the nozzle fully into the filler pipe. Instead, I place the nozzle just past the second door in the filler pipe (the first door you can see; the second, feel). This typically works.
I have this issue everywhere (unless I implement one of the methods above) except at a costco. So, if you have Costco near you try there...great fuel and a great price.
Costco may not save you. My Costco gas pumps cut out on about 1/2 the pumps.
2017 GS Convertible 3LT Low Miles. I have a real problem pumping gas into my car. The gas handle keeps shutting OFF and it takes forever for a fill up. I have tried several gas stations with the same issue. It has to be the car. ???????????
Your issue could be caused by something partially blocking the grid/screen in the filler neck.
The grid/screen is located below the second door inside the filler neck.
Happened regularly on my '15 - 97K miles when I traded it. '19 does it too.... just shift the position until you find a position that works.... 6600 on the '19.
I have found that I have the "gas pump shutting off" problem at various stations.......including Costco, where I most often get gasoline for our Corvettes. The advice about pulling the nozzle back an inch or two from being all the way in the tank is valid. I never have any issues when I do that.
It is also a good idea to "listen" to the gasoline is being pumped into the car's tank. As it gets close to being full, it will sound differently. Do this a few times and you are going to very quickly discover when your tank is full. To me, the problem is both a design flaw with the Corvette AND an overly-sensitive gasoline pump. Just be aware of it so that you fully fill your gas tank, but don't end up with spillage by putting too much fuel into the car.
The diesel fuel saddle tanks on my work truck (a big Freightliner) make things very easy. The fill hole is about 4 inches wide and we use high-speed pumps with large nozzles. One tank is 80 gallons and the one on the other side is (I think) 100 gallons. You can see when the fuel level gets close to the top of the tank and there is no "vapor" issue like there is with gasoline. When you only get 6 miles per gallon, you have to carry lots of fuel. LOL!
I have had this problem with my 2019 Stingray ever since new. Rotating the nozzle 45 degrees usually works, but is a PIA. I get my gas at Mobil and did notice the handle takes quite a bit of force to press. I then tried a Shell gas station and the handle required very little pressure to press and the tank filled with no problem of clicking off constantly. I agree that the pump handles are different at some stations and are more sensitive to back pressure. The Vette gas tanks seem to be very sensitive as well and Chevrolet should of corrected this issue years ago.
My 19Z06 has big time problems at my favorite Sunoco station. Turning the nozzle 90 degrees usually works for me. Never had this problem with my older vettes.
