Yep. Seen it on many cars. I replaced my covers with aftermarket. I believe it is covered under warranty.

I have a 2015 that I bought new. The paint came off almost immediately. It was replaced under warranty, however, it has just recently started to peel again, this time no warranty.

There have been some threads about this issue. Not sure even replacement using new factory pieces will stop the paint from eventually peeling. You could always do like others have done and get a set of painted covers from one of our fine aftermarket parts vendors. They advertise their products quite often on the forum.

One side of our 2017 started peeling the letters after about 30k miles/ 2 yrs.
Dealer replaced the cover under warranty, didn't even have to order it, they apparently keep 'em in stock for this problem, which suggests it's pretty common.

Common problem on the fuel rail covers... you can go aftermarket or just repaint them yourself with a paint pen from a crafts store. Some vendors even sell stickers for a quick fix.

I bought a 2014 two years ago and it had that issue. I am a cheap a++ so I checked thru my paint supply and found red caliper paint(good for hot places). I sanded the letter area of each cover and put a couple of coats of caliper paint on after taping off surrounding area. It turned out great and the color match is very close to original. To this day no chips, cracks, or peel. Cost? Just my time. Told you I'm cheap. Good Luck.

Mine were peeling too on my 2016 Z51. I purchased GM OEM from Mid America Motorworks. Just like new now.

My 2017 (late 2016 build) started peeling this spring. I acquired a new set for a great price but would like to find something to help them last longer than 3 1/2 years. Any suggestions for a heat proof clearcoat?

My experience with GM is that when they replace such junk, it is with more of the same.

Sad that GM can't even get the paint to "stick" on these covers.

Default Simple solution to engine fade - decals

Happened to ours too. Got a new one on warranty and same thing happened. Bought these off ebay (item 123379529182) and they still look perfect to this day. Don't waste your money on an engine cover. Get the decal and lots of other colors to choose from to customize your car.

Picture taken from their listing.

I just took off the faded red letters altogether. I kinda like the nude look.

2091 G S so far mine are ok. I'll look into the newer cover design when it happens.
