Many of us recognize locking/security lug nuts only inconvenience the owner, although some disagree. I would not bother.

Save your money, it will either slow down a street thug and perhaps frustrate him to the point of damaging your Vette or just slightly inconvenience the experienced thief.

Don't listen to all the nay sayers. They'll probably say the same thing about door locks for their house. A lock set will slow down or deter a wheel thief along with the factory alarm. Nothing is a sure bet but everything helps. I use the Gorilla Locks lock system where every lug is a lock nut. Since I invested in a set of expensive aftermarket wheels I also have extra wheel coverage insurance through my insurance company. Even if they manage to jack the wheels I'll be covered for replacement.

At one point I used both of these style locks. Now I'm just using the spinning head version. Buy a backup key because if you lose the one key they are going to be bitch to get off.

If someone is planning to steal your wheels they will show up with a floor jack, blocks and a lug wrench. There is an excellent chance they will have multiple lug wrenches... they will have a plan and be well prepared... what makes you think they will not also have a $10 universal lug nut key?!?

Locking lugs nuts have to be one of the biggest wastes of money in the auto world.

I lost my key (there's a thread of mine on here somewhere). It was a royal pain in the *** to get them off. They're sort of a unique design. I didn't have a code to order a new key. Went to multiple tire shops and no one wanted to touch my car or rims in fear of damaging it. I appreciated their honest hesitation...but......dammit.

Finally, after a few days, this one place was able to remove them with no damage to the rims.

I ordered new locks but haven't installed them....I think I'll order an extra key first before I would put them back on.

And if for some reason they can't get them off quick enough the lug wrench is perfect for smashing windows and other things.

Gorilla locks for me 4-life? That extra few seconds might just make a difference. You never know when you might caught someone in the act!

My '95 had Locking Lug Nuts that the guy I bought the car from said they came with the car.

So, I was surprised when I got to the Corvette National Museum to pick up my new car. I then found out that they did not have them. I was spending the week driving back to the West Coast.

I stopped at a good hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. The security guard was spending all his time watching TV in the Coffee Shop. I Parked, so I could see my car from my room on the Sixth Floor. I would have slept a lot better if I had had Lug Locks.

Of course they are not going to stop a professional thief who is looking for high end cars. Nothing is going to stop him/her.

They are there to stop the opportunist. Anything that delays your casual thief is a good thing! They tend to scatter when an unforeseen person or vehicle happens to int erupt them. They do not want to spend a lot of time committing a crime. jmho
