Default C7 Bashing..

What is it with these C6 guys bashing the C7 non stop? My brother had an 05 base 6 spd, my dad had an 07 Z51 Auto. They were awesome cars! I loved driving them. I had an 05 GTO 6 spd, but the Vettes were more fun to drive. As you guys know, I sold the GTO a few months ago and got a 14 Z51 M7 with an ESC supercharger on it. My bro and dad basically crapped themselves when they saw me come down the street with it the 1st time. I told them I was getting a Hellcat.. A little misdirection :P They both drove it and loved it. My brother said, he couldn't believe the difference. His was really fun to drive, I think maybe even a little more fun than mine, but everything else is sick on my car. Like others, it really took me a while to warm up to the looks. I really hated it at 1st. I also hated the GTO at 1st, but in the end , it was my favorite car. I've had Iroc-z's, Trans am's Corvette's ect.. The GTO was my favorite, Until my C7.. No comparison! Now I love the looks of the C7.. I pretty much love everything about it, but the seats.. Probably the worst seats I've had in a sports car. My GTO and my Brothers C6 Vette's seats were so much more comfortable.. What the hell happened to these seat? My competition seats are by far the coolest looking, but not very comfy. Anyways, I don't get all the hate on the C7..

Never encountered this problem. If your hanging around with real car people this shouldn't be an issue unless they are jealous. A nice Corvette is a nice Corvette no matter the year.

This is nothing new from generation to generation.

C4 guys defend themselves saying its the best bang for the buck. C5 guys will bash C4 guys for being old and time to upgrade. C6 guys will bash the C5 guys for having less horsepower and crappy seats. C5 guys will bash C6 guys for having a boring interior and hardly any body design changes. C6 guys will bash C7 guys for not looking like a real Corvette and too many gadgets. C7 guys will bash C6 guys for having less horsepower, less technology and a less quality interior.

It goes on and on and on...and will never stop. One thing with Vette guys...they think THEIR Vette (color, year, model, options, etc) is the best...and no one can argue it.

Have not encountered any bashing from anyone and for the most part have found Corvette owners to be genuine car guys who appreciate all Vette generations.

Just go to any other generational section and you’ll find owners that swear their car is the cream of the crop and all others are not worthy of mention. Just the way it is and they are entitled to their opinion. I can’t understand the need to bash other generations of Corvette either. They all have their +/- but in the end, they are Vettes and America’s Sports Car.

Simple solution is to just ignore such comments and enjoy the heck out of your C7. I know I do, just like I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 C3s, 4 C4s and 3 C5s.

By far, most of the bashing of C7s by owners of older generations can be substituted with "I can't afford a C7 so I'll find something I don't like to justify keeping what I have". The fact is the C7 is the most advanced FE Corvette and unless something radical happens within GM it will be forever.
Just shrug off the negative comments.

Happens every time a new generation comes out. Previous gen guys bash the new gen and say its not worth upgrading, but then at some point they upgrade to the new gen and preach about how much better the car is than the previous generation. I think it is jealousy mixed with denial of the requirement to spend more money to get the new hotness. There is also a dozen , what are the prices of the current generation going to do now that the new generation comes out tomorrow?!! Am I losing money?!!!!!!

Fact: Every new generation is an overall improvement, model vs model
Fact: A car is rarely an investment, it is a depreciating asset. (There are a few exceptions) Unless you keep it in mint condition for 50 years. But then there are much better ways to multiply your money with greater gains in far less time.

History has repeated it self for as long as I have been around. C4, C5, C6, C7 and now C8. I'm sure it will be really bad when the all electric C9 comes out.

There's always those who will bash the car they don't own. The C7 is widely recognized as an outstanding sportscar available at a very good price in the sportscar community. You obviously love yours and that's all that matters.

Agree! This is human nature. BTW, don't forget the C2 guys who say "sure they made Corvettes after 1967 but who cares"

Some people just need to grow up. This will never change. I'm a car guy so I just like sports cars period. Doesn't matter what series or brand.

Our family owns auto repair shops since 1958 (mechanical and collision). People always ask about what we think about different cars to own. When it comes to sports cars, we never recommend foreign cars out of warranty because of the service and maintenance will eat you alive (especially European cars). The funny part is people won't admit being a bad purchase, until after they have gotten rid of it, then most will sing loud about how bad they got ripped off for everything. We never hear people speaking about regretting owning any Corvette. I haved owned several and my brother too. No regrets.

I think the bashing comes from a minority of Corvette owners. I think most Corvette owners are enthusiasts and appreciate all Corvettes regardless of year. Of course we all have our preferences but Like them all, just some years more than others. Someone that continuously bashes a year group doesn’t have their testosterone in check IMO.

Each Corvette model has there own great points you cant get them all in one vehicle
example split window ,big block, fuel injection, convertible ,Hight fenders of the 68, 4 speed Muncie, Polo white of the 53 I had some of the best thru the years wasn't easy.
rtruman.com check it out
The Corvette has many of these items related to the development of 2019 finished product .
The C8 will be a new age that will fit the gap as it develops further and get refined .

Don't care who bashes what, I know what I have and am quite happy with it. Bashing is usually some jealousy involved or lack of something they'd like to have.

At this point in my life, it's useless to bash anything that's out of my control, if I even cared.
