My understanding is GM had issues capturing 1080 video AND telemetry data; processor could not keep up which resulted in choppy video. Capturing at 720 was the solution.

no ****. Huh. That makes perfect sense. I have a ‘15 without the upgraded software patch from way back. My track recordings are jumpy. I do plan on getting the update before my next event.
The resolution is fine for what you are recording. The problem with the camera isn't the resolution. It is poor dynamic range of it's exposure control. There are certain portions of the track at VIR that are in light shadow on a bright sunny day and the camera won't respond to the lower light level and the picture goes black. I have plenty of videos where the only way you can tell there is a car in front of mine is when the brake lights come on.

Oh really. If there is a car stopped in front of you and you are recording you can't even make out the plate number on playback. In general the picture has zero definition and very soft edges, basically a **** picture. Nice clear day with no sun to cause shadows you think this is good?
