I read a bunch of the forum battery threads. Most seem to suggest the AC Delco. I can get it locally.
My battery is going on month 45 in a 2017 C7. I prefer not to wait until it needs to be replaced. I also prefer to do my own work.
I noticed a Champion Group H6 at Pepboys that is AGM and has a 48 month full price warranty for the same price. Has anyone tried this battery? My research indicates that an H6 is the metric exact equivalent of a size group 48. Is this also correct?
I did not buy the Champion but I did buy the a H6 Platnium AGM battery from Advance Auto Parts , the OEM battery , in my opinion , is terribly undersized which I am sure was done for weigh ...
It only has 550 CA , the platinum has 760 CA and over 900 CCA
Was the best money I have every spent no more putting the car on triple charger if I dont drive it
make sure you buy a lifting strap , you will thank me later

Are those of you that change batteries doing so because you see hard cranking or anything like that?
I daily my vette (only car) and it is a '15. Fires right up, with zero hesitation. I personally have no plan to change the battery unless I get some sort of sign, even a minor one.

Sadly, the "sort of sign" will happen when you really don't want it to happen and you get stranded as a result. You can go from Jeckyl to Hyde with the batteries. I lucked out and got a ""Less than peppy start up" as my cue. I immediately replaced the battery. Anything over 4 years out of a battery is a blessing from God. At 5 years, bealzebub is playing with your 12Vs.

I track my car and when in the staging lanes sometime i have to start it a lot to move up in line. At 2.5 years of age I noticed my volt meter seemed like it was always charging and if I let the car sit for any period of time it would crank slower than normal .... and then one night at the track it happened... the dreaded almost did not start..
I never liked having having small battery in the first place as you always read about the electrical glitches ...
Well since I bought my 760 Amp AGM my car starts like a jet engine every time. I don't worry about not staring after parking it for a week and my volt meter displays a more normal charging cycle
Its all about weather conditions, starting, charging and discharging cycles as far as how long a battery lasts. I have an Expedition that I might drive once a week the Battery is 6 tears old and turns the starter like its brand new , battery has never been drained to the point of no start .... I have a company provided 2014 Taruis that is driven driven daily , sits outside in the weather, battery never gave me an ounce of trouble until one day I walked out last year turned the key an nothing happened .....
yes watch the voltmeter if the car doesnot revert ot 12.6 -13 volts after starting and running it for 20 minutes your battery is starting to go. I just had adanced auto do it and bought a die hard. The guy took about 30 minutes to do it while I watched. I was glad he did it instead of me

You made an excellent choice Dave. Parasitic draw on the C7 is pretty high. The OEM flooded lead-acid battery is a weak match for this vehicle with all the electronics it is equipped with. Guess GM was penny pinching like they were with their wide body wheels. You battery maintainer will work with your AGM battery if you own a CTEK or the Corvette charger if you purchased GM's battery protection option. Now you can go out an upgrade your subwoofer.
Like i said in other posts. Still have my original Battery in my 14. I do keep it on the charger when not in use..

Yes i know i am playing with fire . that's the kind of guy i am.

One of my vehicles is an old beater 2007 Toyota Camry which I once used as a commuter car for many years. Still own it. I only replaced the battery in this vehicle 1 time. After 8 years I didn't want to risk it any longer so I replaced it. My current battery is now just about as old as the original. The vehicle starts without a hitch. It helps a lot when your vehicle has no parasitic draw on the battery when the vehicle is off.

Fixed that for you ^^. (I have yet to see a battery that provides more CCA than CA.)
Please elaborate on the "lifting strap." Which one did you buy, that works well for our car's H6 form factor and location?

Yeah, me too ('14 as well, orig batt. w/trickle charger). About a month ago I closed the hatch while the alarm system was active. Holy hell!!! Horn and lights went nuts and would not stop for a while. Even then the brake lights stayed on. Then, every error code known to man started to occur. Car would not start as the theft control was activated. Waited a day and nothing. Waited another day, tried to open the door HORN, LIGHTS, HORN, LIGHTS. Hooked up battery charger once things quieted down. Then the next day, there was some power as the power seats worked but nothing else. Luckily all this happened in my garage. Changed battery and all was well again. This car does not like a battery that can't remain at 12V!
I used a couple of old leather belts as lift straps. You'll also want to use some mechanic/garden gloves. Even then you'll probably leave behind some blood, lol. There are some big fuses back there too, 100 and 150 amp ones. I had some trouble getting the install to work and had to use a multimeter to figure out where I needed to tighten down further. It took a surprising amount of torque! Then I found out the dealer will install for free if you buy the battery from them.

This is NOT my experience.
I've got 5 other vehicles, besides the 2014 C7 that I just bought, and I've gotten at least 7-8 years on the OE/OEM batteries in the 4 cars and truck.
I wouldn't expect any different from the C7 (the 6th vehicle that I currently own) but, if it needs to be replaced, I'll keep this thread in mind when the C7 battery needs to be replaced.
BTW, I always keep the C7 and my 3 other fun cars (the BMW, MR2 and 911) on Battery Tenders when no in use, which I believe helps to prolong the useful life of the batteries.
