AFAIK, the last update GM made for the C6 Nav system was the 2016 update that came out in the Fall of 2015.
If they continue the "screw the previous generation" approach, this 2021 update could be the last one for the C7.
Hopefully, we'll get updates for 2022 and beyond.
Just ordered the 2021 update a few minutes ago.

The question I have for anyone that has got it, was it worth it?
I guess I dont care so much for the $100 if I felt like it was worth it.

depends.
if you have a 16+ with CarPlay or AA, probably not. If you have a <15 and actually use the factory nav, AND, haven’t updated the nav in the last couple of years, then probably.
since I have a C8 coming 8n Jan, I’m not going to bother. I’ve updated the nav every two years, just because, but I almost always use AA if I need nav...

I also upgraded and, while the cost and process are annoying, they were worth it for me as well.
I tend to buy and hold my vehicles and this may be the final upgrade for C7 nav systems. With that in mind, I knew I didn't want to be annoyed by my home address' absence from the system. It's present in the upgraded database.

I never updated my C6 but I am thinking about updating my 2016 C7.
Is there anything worthwhile about the upgrade not in the original besides new roads I may never travel on to make it worth the $99?

IMO the "year end special" of $100 vice the $160 "normal price" is to clear out the 2020 edition.
My experience with nav database software has led me to upgrade every 3ish years, as the data may likely not be up to date...
After purchasing updates from both Ford for my Mustang and GM for my 'vette a few years back, I discovered that NEITHER included significant roadway changes that were completed at least a year and a half before the database was "updated" for release. (Specifically a major change to I15 approaching Las Vegas from the south and CA 168 in Fresno, both of which added important adjustments to traffic flow...) I decided at that point it wasn't worth an annual update to get information that is potentially erroneous from the git go.

Not that I've found. If you don't use the factory Nav or all the roads on which you travel are there, I think you can safely save yourself $100.
My reason for upgrade was specific - the road on which we live was missing, despite being almost 5 yrs old.

I updated the Nav in my DD as well as the C7 a couple of years ago. It seems like my system works better since the update - not sure if anything other than the data was updated. but I do not have as many problems as I did before the update.
And I got the same mailer recently - what they are offering is the latest (2021) update.
Well, seeing that my maps haven't been updated in 5yrs, meh, $100 bucks to get to a 2021 update? Pretty easy. I still use AA/Google Maps/Waze, but keeping OE Nav updated won't kill the bank every few years or so. I can confirm 84990634 is the latest version/GM PN.

...
The special price is on the 2021 edition, which in normal times would have come out just a couple of months ago; I'm not sure when it came out this year.
I can think of reasons that this could signal the last update for the C7, and reasons why it suggests they'll continue updates for years.
Who knows?
I got that snail mail but I don't usually use the crappy GM nav. But I figure I would look into it.
I have a '15, but had the HDMI replaced with a 2.5 so I got AA support.
I find it interesting that for the stock '15, they sell
GM - Next Generation Infotainment System Map Update - V.2020
And for the 2016, which has AA and a 2.5 HDMI, they sell:
GM - NEXT GENERATION INFOTAINMENT 2.5 SYSTEM MAP UPDATE - V.2021
So my point being apparently GM (actually here.com) already has stopped updating maps for certain years! But it appears you can still buy old, obsolete updates.

The instructions for the previous updates and for the 2021 version tell you to not drive the car during the update.
Several people here have posted that they drove during the update and it caused no problems.
I'm cautious, I start the car and let it idle for ~45 min during the update.
Life is full of choices...

I also have a 2019 C7 and wondered about the map update. You did experience a change or something new with the update? I just figured mine was close enough. Thanks
PS I also noticed it was V.2022 now.
