My battery is just coming up on 4 years old. This morning is sounded a bit sluggish at start up. I have a battery load tester machine that measures the voltage but more important puts a load on the battery while a button is pressed on the device. It shows on the meter the general condition as to good, bad, weak. Is there any reason not to perform this test on the C7? I have found that it gives good insight as to the general condition of boat batteries and other vehicles I have owned over the years.
IMO anything beyond three years of battery life is living on borrowed time in an extreme temperature zone, and it sounds like your battery is on its last electrons.
Replacing a $200 battery is a monthly "expense" of about five bucks if no rebate is included - IMO cheap insurance against pressing the START button to no effect.
New battery installed. Hardest part was maneuvering new battery down into the battery hole.
Load Test results
battery voltage open circuit on bench 12.16 vdc
load meter showed WEAK on the lower end of weak scale
under load voltage was 9.8 vdc
48 month old oem battery needed replacement. The 2017 has around 5000 miles. I choose not to use a tender. I most likely could have got more time if I used a tender.
My original battery was just over 4 years old and was weak. I found the original battery was only 615 CCA. The new replacement AC battery is 770CCA. REPLACE IT!
