Default C/7 key fob recognition problem,NEED HELP

Ok, got a weird problem with my key fob. After setting overnight, my key fob won't unlock my door. If I unlock the trunk first then the key fob will open the door ,anyone got an answer on my C/7 vert.

Change the battery in the fob.

Also check the condition of the car's battery (what year is your car?).

This and change the battery in your 2nd FOB too. They usually croak at the same time regardless of usage of each.

The C7 key fobs eat batteries like no other fobs I have owned. Probably only get about two years out of each battery. And the fobs act goofy when the batteries get low. You can press the fob buttons and the functions work. But then the car does not see the fob when you try to start the car. And if you stick the fob in the "fob slot" on the steering column, the car will see it even though the battery is low.

As others said - change the fob batteries.

FYI - I measured the battery in my fob that was working goofy. It was at 2.86 volts. That is not terribly low for a 3 volt battery. The new battery was only 3.15 volts. But all the problems went away with the new battery.

If you replace the battery in the fob ,it will pitch the codes and you have to take it to the dealer to reset the codes and they charge for that.

Nope, not true. You can change the FOB batteries daily and you will not need to do anything at the dealer.

OK, here goes I am a watch maker and I change boat loads of watch batteries each week. and some times I get car fobs to change the batteries in. When I do them the customers complain they have to go back to the dealer to get the fob recoded.

My C7 is also a 2018. FOB batteries died already. And no, no codes were thrown. Just replaced the batteries and all was good again.

Dude, I'm telling you straight up, you can change the battery in the FOB and never need to see the dealer. If they are going to the dealer, they have other issues but it isn't relacing the FOB battery that caused the problem. You can get bad batteries out of the box, you can put them in upside down but just a simple battery replacement does NOT require any programming.

This information that I am giving is for the Corvette. Other cars are other cars and I don't know jack squat about them. I DO know about the C6 and C7 Corvette FOB.

By the way, if you put the battery in upside down, it kills the battery. Don't ask me how I know.........

Ok, just replaced the battery and it still won't open the door on the first attempt. After several attempts it will finally open.

If you have a voltmeter, a new 3V fob battery reads around 3.3V. Once it gets anywhere below 3V, car response is flaky.

An oddity I have run into is off-brand batteries can measure fine, but not work due to minute size irregularities. They appear to fit but do not make adequate contact. Thus I stick with brand name batteries for the fobs.

Assuming you have two fobs, do they both act the same way? If so, better check the cars battery. You should have at least 12.7 volts. More would be better....

Is this true with both fobs with new batteries?

What is the resting voltage of the car's battery? The car's battery could be bad, but this is uncommon at this age.

Do both fobs act the same?

Any gremlins when you drive the car?

It is not listed in the warranty manual. Therefore the default is there is no warranty coverage. It is considered a "wear / consumable" item.

The car's battery may have its own separate warranty however.
