I have a 2014 with 14000 miles. It just developed crack in the upper drivers side corner that is only on the underside of the windshield. It is behind the top windshield frame and cannot be seen from inside the car. There is no crack on the outside of the window.
I have heard this is a fairly common problem. Have others had this problem and if so does GM repair under warranty. I have a GM extended warranty still in service.
My 2015 had same problem GM said to bad first week of the zo6 auto run in January 2015 . Car had 3000 miles on it it’s a factory defect no question and we eat the cost thanks Gm
Many of us, including me, had the same thing. Many states have a $0 deductible for windshield replacement. My insurance covered the extra cost to replace it with GM glass, but I am not sure my choice was the best as I bet it might happen again! And my luck of course six months later I got a brand spanking new chip.
There are many threads on this and I think the forum members in the business stated that there is really only one company that makes the glass.

My 2017 GS windshield was replaced under warranty, due to de-Lam, but a crack was present as well. The Dealer used a subcontractor that installed the windshield itself correctly, but damaged the A Pillar Applique and Weather Strip Seal causing a leak. Neither the Dealer nor Sub would correct the problem (new parts needed) after 3 attempts. I finally found a competent independent Corvette Shop and paid for the repair (leak test, Applique and Seal) out of pocket ($650).
So, if you have the job done under warranty, Caveat emptor.

So to answer your question, yes stress cracking in a C7 is a problem, mostly caused by a combination of micro fissures from the lack of proper edge grinding and flex in the windshield header
Now will the dealer replace it under warranty .... probably not after all this time ....
As far as needing an OEM , with your car being a 2014 i doubt that your insurance will authorize and OEM replacement and as Nashville points out see my comments in this thread as I try to stop all the internet urban ledgends that are out there as far as glass replacement is concerned 😟
