Default Corvette Historian Question

I see many people say my car is 1 of 375? or that my car is rare?

How do people find out this kind of information about their car etc. I received a build sheet from one of the free sites but honestly I did not know what the heck I was looking at?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It seems to me that a lot of the cars sellers consider rare now, are in colors or options that very few people wanted when they were new! The obvious exception being the copper colored C4. As I recall, it was rare and popular, it just cost Chevy to much money for the paint, so it was discontinued.. jmho

A lot of this type of production data is readily available from the Corvette Museum in their Corvette Archive. Go to their website. Depending upon how much data you ask for they will charge a fee.

Just because a car is low production with it's options, does not make it worth anything more financially, but can be cool to have the bragging rights. The only options over the years that really made a difference were spacific models, ie: Drivetrain configurations (BIG HP) limited production models (Anniversary, Pace cars, etc) or celebrity owned vehicles. Other than that, if you want the car to be worth more money, take care of it and keep it in pristine condition. Also low mileage cars in years to come are worth more in money, but not in memories of driving the car...

Here is a link to the 2018 cars productions stats from the Corvette Museum.
I look in the second column for my car and follow it straight down to see how many were made with my options

My dash told me my car was rare

This is the Barrett Jackson effect - after watching certain Corvettes sell for crazy money everyone thinks they have a special 1 of XXX. Truth is it will be another 40 years before any C7 becomes a collector item. Granted a few, like the first and last off the production line have already sold for big money but your average C7, even if its some rare combo, isn't worth that much more. For example the Premiere Edition cars like mine are worth the same as similarly equipped 3LT Z51. In fact a super low mileage C7 is likely worth more then a 1 of 500 example with average miles.

For some people its not about the money - its more of trivia thing... just interesting to known if anyone else has a car like yours.

Thanks for the link... I had been on there before but couldn't find a nice tabular tally like this. I found the one for 2016 Z06's. Looks like mine is some where below 1 in 300. The Adrenaline Red interior as well as the Carbon Flash stripes put it below that. The only thing that does for value is make it a little more eye catching maybe but nothing more haha. Don't really see mine being sold any time soon, so can't say it really matters.

This has been on-again/off-again for at least the past year. Good discussion about it here. Unfortunately, the latest answer is the plant/museum can only go back one year (i.e., C7 owners are out of luck).

Both my C7s have been, well, er, not rare... now, on the other hand, my old Ferrari is: one of only 1,344 cars made and one of but two silver with red interiors in North America.

My 19 GS is extremely rare. It's the only GS in the country that ran over a squirrel on Jan 10 in the entire state of Virginia.

And you have no idea if that's true... it might be. Might not.

Just looking at the production information, there is no way to tell if your car is 1 of XXX exactly anymore. You have to use the extrapolation formulas to make an educated guess.

I called NCM last month and its only done for 2020 and 2021 now, only the two most recent years. They tried to obtain it for my 2019 but its no longer available from the Plant, according to Betty. So anyone that doesn't already have that letter from GM, isn't getting it.
