Default Either/or?

Assume equal money and equal desirability of color combo

2016 Z51 2LT manual convertible with NPP and nav, non-MRC, offered CPO from Chevy dealer, plus 3 extra years of GM platinum warranty, 1030 miles.

Or
2017 Stingray 3LT manual convertible with NPP and MRC, non-Z51, private sale with remaining warranty, 9300 miles.

I already chose. What would YOU choose and why?

I think leaning towards the 2016 with extended warranty also get Z51 beware of 3lt dash problems

I wouldn't get a C7 without MRC... best feature ever in my book. Unless you are tracking the extra Z51 bits aren't needed. In fact given the confusion around the dry sump oil system your are better off without it.

I would probably get the 2016 since it's the car with the most remaining warranty. But you didn't mention a balance on the private sale. I would not need Z51 or Mag Ride.

Whatever you decide, please drive it....

JMII places higher priority for MRC over (even) lower miles and big warranty.
Rtruman places higher priority on extended warranty, Z51 and 2LT trim eliminating dash issues.
Khearon places higher priority on warranty and is agnostic on Z51 and Mag Ride.

Anyone else wanna pipe in? Again, I’ve already decided, this is more for my education as I get up to speed - as this will be my first Corvette ever!

Khearon, I am very confident I will drive it more than either PO, especially if I chose to the 16 with 1030 miles - only 200 miles a year! Crazy. Car will never be tracked, though. Private sale has expired bumper-to-bumper but remaining power train. Would be easy enough to buy an extended GM warranty for it.

Yes, and I bet you also post “who cares? Buy what YOU like” in response to posts by folks trying to decide between colors, wheels, transmissions, etc. I just came here for a discussion about Corvettes as I learn more about them. If my thread offends you I apologize.

I’d go with the ‘16 with the warranty. Nice to not have to shell out several grand right off the bat for an extended warranty. Plus some owners have had problems with the 3LT interior - specifically the dash delaminating.

The 16. Although I am prejudiced since I have a 16 2LT coupe
I wouldn't buy a 3LT when I was looking due to the dash complaints.

Neither...as I would want a Z51, 2LT, with MRC and with NPP.

Nope, because they are weighing options and others' input may be of actual use, especially if there are functional differences. You, on the other hand, are asking for validation; i.e., you have already bought "what YOU like"

So what did YOU buy?

Please let us know if you have any actual questions about the car itself and we will be happy to help.

I am sorry my response upset you.

That makes sense, of course, but it turns out Chevy dealers aren't taking orders for C7s anymore, so I don't have the option of spec'ing one precisely the way I would like. It is really hard to get everything - model, trim, body, options, color, condition, documentation, mileage, price - and while waiting for the unicorn to appear, others are out enjoying their cars! In this instance, the 2017 is closer to spec I would have ordered, while with the 2016's mileage I could drive it for two summers and still be at or under 10,000 on the odometer with two years left on a GM platinum warranty. So I can buy one, the other, or stay on the sideline for the unicorn. The last option doesn't seem that fun.

Hi Elk, your response wasn't upsetting, just puzzling. Taking the time to post "don't waste my time" is a bit odd. I came to this C7 community for support, information, and - fair enough - validation. Is that so bad? Other folks so far don't seem to mind.

Default Well...

I have a convertible with NPP and both Z51 and Mag Ride, all only because I loved the car when I saw it and made an offer....of the two options in question, the only one I really knew anything about was the Z51 so I would probably go for the one with that, as I thought it was the option I desired. As I learn about mag ride, I get more confused. For me, it was 1. Convertible and 2. Manual transmission.
The C7 I own is the only C7 I’ve ever driven. I have very limited experience in C3,4 and 5.
You’ve made your selection, I’m sure you’ll be happy and enjoy it as often as you can. That’s what it’s all about.

Condition is always very important to me. If both the same condition, it would be an easy choice in going with the 2016 due to the much lower mileage, more warranty and you don't have to worry about the 3LT dash possibly shrinking/cracking.

Assuming condition is essentially the same, I'd go with the 16.

Same price, same condition, I’d lean towards the lower mile Z51 ‘16. Replace the dusty brake pads if I wasn’t going to track it. And look into the possibility of canceling the extended warranty to get some money back from it. I don’t care for the mag ride, ride, the 3LT bling, the dash issue or the leaky mag ride shocks on the ’17.
