Not to offend, but I just can't like the current C8.. the design is just too disproportionate, too much "tack on" It looks like 3 different teams designed it.. like team 1 front, team 2 side, team 3 rear and they never met. I know it's the new gen, but as he mentioned "evolution" not revolution. They could have done a much better job and hopefully in a few years they will, unless they go electric then all bets are off for me. I wholeheartedly appreciate the C8, but it's just too damn ugly to my eye.. I just can't get past it.. so many things are just glaringly not right to me. I actually felt disappointed the first drive in one, maybe my expectations were too high, I have to like the look of something first to consider buying it. I also would not in the market for a "base" model anyway, Z06 might be better?. There is a Corvette generation out there for everyone, I have my favorites. I could care less if others do not agree, it's my eye, and my money and I am not going to be told what's "better" You should always be yourself and honest to yourself. It is a first year and is what it is, I hope everyone that get's it loves it as much as I love my C7. Not trying to offend anyone, I want everyone to be part of the Corvette community and be appreciative we have this community. I would never tell someone with any year Corvette it stinks and too old.. they are all special to that person and all have stories to tell..
Good design study The side intake is a bit over-styled... same with the rear.
Now as a counter point: Chip's design seems too long and low. It likely doesn't work in the real world. Notice how tiny his side windows are = zero visibility, cramped feeling interior. The rear deck is so high it would be difficult to load items in back. Same with the rear wheel size, in the real world those would need to be 22" out back to achieve that look, fine for a custom, but not practical due to weight and cost.
There is a pretty big jump from the C1 to the C2 design wise too so its not unheard to do a clean sheet design. Since the mid-engine was a radical departure anything a different styling direction was almost a given. Will it age well? That is the real question.
This video was also posted in the C8 section and their response has been primarily negative and defending the GM design. You can't argue with the sales results, however I think Chip eloquently described my thoughts on the C8 as well.
Interestingly, I also received a letter today from the dealership where I purchased my 19' Z06 (3LZ/Comp Seats/Z07 Package/Carbon Fiber Dash/M7) offering me a net cost delta deal of $4,655 plus title and fees for a 2021 C8 3LT coupe with my trade in. Basically $76.9K for the C8 with $73,925 for my Z06.
Ok Chips design does look better than the GM C8 but the Corvette is now a EXOTIC MID ENGINE SUPERCAR LIKE IT OR NOT! I do not like supercars but I hope the C8 continues to sell excellent to keep the brand name alive! What I got out of the video is how he describes the C8 visually EXACTLY HOW I FEEL 100%!!!

First, it's probably a typical dealership bait and switch to get me in the door, however I bet since it's a 2021 it would probably restricted to their existing stock or allocation. I custom ordered my '19 Z06 and at this time, I'm not interested in moving into the C8 Stingray. Maybe the C8 Z06 in a couple of years but not the Stingray. It just isn't aggressive looking enough to my eyes. The C8 is a nice car, and the mid-engine is the future, but I would miss the M7, power, and feel of my Z06. The car still feels very new to me even though it will be 3 years old in July. I would rather someday add than trade and my next Corvette may be electric. I would have a lot of fun in that scenario knowing I still have my C7Z as I can't imagine ever growing tired of driving this car.
The C8 looks like a generic Lambo for 60K. It even comes in some obnoxious colors just like a real one. Why that hurts anyone’s feelings is beyond me.
The C7 looks like a generic Ferrari for 40K Wahoo !!
Merica !!!
Agree with @Romark . I haven't been able to put into words exactly what I was seeing but Chip did a pretty darn good job. Have thought the C8 looked like a Ferrari from the side at a glance (which I didn't mind) but the front and rear just didn't work... Was it too big of leap? The sales don't support that the leap was too big, so I guess not. I remember when Dodge came out with their new truck design on the front end, reminded me of the long nose semis. Didn't care for it one bit. Next you knew, Ford and Chevy were following suit but not quite to the extreme. Today it's the norm. I'm sure the C8 will grow on me, but right now I love my C7 Z06 and would 100% miss my 3rd pedal!!

I felt the same way you did with “who” designed the front and “who” designed the back because they really don’t follow the same design at all. The middle looks odd because it’s trying to marry the two completely different ends together.
There was an interesting article from the forum Editors a few weeks ago that is absolutely on point with this subject. The article pointed out that the C8 is brining in new buyers to Corvette. It's important to remember that the age of new Corvette owners increased dramatically with the C6. The C7 did a fair job of slowing down that increase, some estimate it actually stopped the increasing average age. But it's up to the C8 to bring in younger buyers (by younger I mean in their late 40s, early 50's). The C8 is doing that. So how does that relate to the video in this thread? The point is GM doesn't want to throw back the C8 to previous Corvettes. The C7 was radically changed to break from Corvette tradition and some hated it. The C8 is continuing this departure from the past. It's sad in a way, but Corvette is moving on in search of new, younger generation buyers.
That said, I like what Foosh did, Good Job!
