Default changing the rear diff fluid

For those who have changed the diff fluid in a 2017 Z06 coupe, M7, do you have to move the coolers out of the way and do you have to drop the rear sway bar? Also what fluid did you use?

Thanks in advance all.

Here is the DIY I followed, lots of good info: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-service.html

You don't have to move anything... the fill plug is a bit tricky to reach and the drain plug will drip fluid on the rear subframe and leaf spring so it can be messy. If your not familiar gear lube smells terrible so I had to throw out the shirt I was wearing because the stink never went away

I used Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90, it meets GMs specs and was available at my local auto parts store.

No, just get the right length socket extension to slide in there. I used a short 1/4" extension with a 3/8 adaptor on the end to fit in the drain plug.

I used the same oil. One trick I started years ago when using the little hand pump that screws into the 1 qt bottle is stick it in the microwave first. I heat it for 2 min, just enough that you can barely feel warmth slightly above ambient when you pick it up. It make pumping a LOT easier.

Don’t forget to loosen the TOP plug first.

last thing you want to find out is that you can’t get the fill plug out after you drained it.

overall, very easy procedure on any C7 (Z06 included).

Thank you all for the great advice...I had the part number and found it on Amazon for $15+/qt. One of my car buddies has 2 lifts in his hangar condo and we've performed a few "operations" before. He has all verts and said he had to move the coolers and drop the rear sway and thought it was because it was a vert. He's exact, cautious and always on point when we change oil or attach splitters and skirts.

My car is a 17 z51 vert so I have the filters and sway bar back there and I did not have to remove anything. Using the 1/4" ratchet and extension with the 1/4 to 3/8 adaptor helped in the limited space.
