my 2016 came with a coat of rain x, or something better. my car is garaged and driven daily. n0w with 47k miles on it, i need to clean the window with a clay bar i think, because of all the 'pits' that are not there. sun from the wrong direction looks like it's pitted. im hoping the clay bar will bring it back to new. so my question is, what windshield product is better than Rain X, because i just don't think in would have lasted 5 years?
There are a bunch of dedicated windscreen sealants and coatings, so it’s impossible to tell.
I like aquapel for an at home install product.
befor I’d clay your windscreen, I’d take a mr clean magic eraser and soak it in a bucket of water for 5 mins to get it saturated. Then I’d go at the windscreen with a good APC cut 5:1 and the magic eraser. See if you can remove any grime before you hit it with the clay bar and a good waterless wash as your clay lube.
when all done, flush with water and finish with a good glass cleaner like stoners and some MF waffle cloths before you apply the repellant dressing or coating
It most likely is pitted, caused by the aerodynamics of the car and a clay bar will not remove . Trying to polish out defects like pitting in glass will usually result in causing a distortion in the glass

If you're driving in the rain you need to redo RainX every month or two. The wipers remove it pretty efficiently.
Regarding pitting, it is probably inevitable. Years ago we had to replace a windshield that had developed a crack, and it was amazing how clear the replacement looked compared to the old one.
I use Barkeeper's Friend from the cleaning supply aisle at the grocery about twice a year and then reapply Rain X. Really cleans and slightly polishes the glass.
I know this isn't Corvette related, but on my Semi truck windshield, it looks like it has wiper rash.. Its weird, where the wiper stops and starts there is a line the length of the wiper that looks like a bunch of scratches. I really don't know how to describe it. Soap and water, glass cleaner, rain X won't do anything to remove it. I'm wondering if that's the pitting you guys are talking about. It looks like the wipers were on constantly when it wasn't raining.. Now its going across where the wipers wipe in front of the driver.. I've never seen anything like this.
