Got over 30k miles on a 2017 GS now.No shutter till I pulled my Range Device about 2000 miles ago.Had triple flush done without Range device just in case there could be a issue with it at the dealer? Immediately plugged back in.
Tranny is fine plugged in.Gonna keep it plugged in until Inspection time clearing again.
I took my 2019 GS in last fall for the triple flush even though I was having no issues.
This spring I was 7 hrs into a 10 hour drive and the transmission began surging when dropping into V4, sometimes it would be 10-12 surges before dropping into V4. It had been performing flawlessly and even that first shift in the morning was smooth as silk. It has continued to get worse and now it surges 100 rpm then drops into v4 and continues to slightly surge even in manual mode.
I checked the part number on the fluid used in the triple flush and it was the newest fluid.
it’s at the dealer as of this morning.

This is not normal as I have not heard of anyone with this problem. Hope you get you car fixed and up and running properly again. Good Luck
My 2016 started at around 1,000 miles. Now at 1,155 w/range I'm going to have to get it flushed. My 2016 CTS 4 had the flush done in Jan. last year and it fixed the issue immediately.

Would you happen to still have that part number for the newest triple flush fluid? I have a 2017 GS with the shudder problem. I have an appointment at the dealership in two days to get the flush done.
Also, do you know why it's called a triple flush? Is it called a triple flush because they flush the fluid 3 times or is it just the name of the fluid they use? Kind of a dumb question I know. lol
The dealer actually drops the transmission pan drains all the fluid, runs the vehicle and repeats two more times.
part numbers: Quart bottles: 19417577 and 55 gal drum: 19417904.

Have them reference the TSB 18-NA-355 for the triple flush procedure. Yes, it is different from a normal transmission flush as they are doing the procedure 3x in order to get all of the old fluid out. 24 quarts in the case of the Corvette A8's.

I joined the unfortunate group of those afflicted with A8 transmission issues a short time ago. Bought car with 1,200 miles on. By 1,500 I had the shudder. Triple flush seemed to lessen the jolt from 5th to 4th and 4th to 3rd but now have what can only be described as getting rear ended when downshifting to and from 7th. Dealer following same direction GM has been giving for years: 1) flush 2) new valve body 3) new TCM 4) prayer.
Others I know have no issues, others, similar to mine - damn luck of the draw with these A8 disasters. 400k views on trans failure post says a lot.
Roll the dice and good luck whichever way you choose to go.
Got car back from dealer after about a month [majority of time spent trying to get GM to approve work beyond the 3x flush]. Dealer added new valve body and new TCM [odd GM went new on TCM vs. re-flash but dealer may not have been in contact with GM staff that understood problem well enough]. Issue with extremely hard shifts remains, only difference was gear. Now issue is limited to downshifts into 2nd. Dealer to advise if GM will authorize additional parts [another valve body, maybe a TC] or send a field engineer? to further diagnose the problem.

I don't know what percentage of A8 owners have had issues, but with my 2015 A8 I threw snake-eyes and my entire two-year ownership was a royal PITA. I had both the shudder and the o-ring issues that caused sporadic delayed engagement, and both were intermittent. Since neither could be demonstrated to a dealer at first I had to live with the maladies for that two year period, that is until the shudder became so frequent that I was able to demonstrate it to a dealer.
The TC was replaced along with the triple-flush in early 2017, apparently not with the newest fluid that was the real fix, but even though the tranny worked fine after the repair I had had enough. To make matters worse, I was never able to demonstrate the delayed-engagement (o-ring) issue, so even though they had the tranny out of the car for the TC repair GM would not authorize the o-ring repair. I loved the car but the tranny issues were too much and I didn't want to face what some had experienced with multiple repairs, so two weeks after the TC repair I traded it for a 2017 GS M7. Life has been good ever since.
I can only report my experience, but based on that I would never own another car/truck/SUV equipped with an A8, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Will she actually drive it? I bought my C6 with an auto because my wife said she will also drive it but she did not use it once in 12 years. I eventually had to trade it in for a manual and got me a 2019 M7 C7.
I taught my wife to drive manual on our 78 C3 which was much more challenging to drive than a smooth M7 on the C7...heavy clunky shifter and non-hydraulic clutch. She loved it when we moved to a C5 M6 and now the C7 M7.
Reading forum threads on the A8 will have you believing that 95% of all C7 A8s have issue as forums is where those with issues come to report/complain. You don't find the thousands of C7 A8 owners who have not had any issues creating threads on it.
Realistically, only approx 5% of C7 A8s have had issues and the triple-flush process has cured issues for the vast majority of them.
by the time I finish researching any product on the internet, I’m afraid to move forward with the purchase
just had my 19 gs to dealer for a flush and new fluid. dealer said the new fluid has been the solution. the c7 is a great car. worth fixing the problems IF they arise.
I have a late build 2018 (built in Dec 2017, just a few weeks before 2019 production started) so I'm really not sure if I had the latest fluid from the factory but either way I have 33k on it and it hasn't given me any trouble.
I have a 2017 Grand Sport. Purchased new, May 2018. Bought the Range device immediately.
At about 4500 miles I told the dealer about the shutter. I was not having any issues at all. The car was running/shifting perfect. I just wanted the new fluid for piece of mind. Dealer did the Triple flush with no questions asked. It took about 3 hours. No charge, it was still under warranty. Car is still running perfect.
