I'm selling my C6 and moving up to a C7. The wife would like an A8 but I'm hesitant after what I've read about them. Did the last couple of model years still have problems?
Thanks

I have a 2017 Z06 that had the flush and no issues. Don't let everything you read scare you away. You'll always read more bad than good things because most people don't post the good. My friend put almost 40K miles on his 2016 Z06 with no issues. I have 17K on mine. Both were bought new.
There wasn't a fix to the TC, just the fluid change which I'd call a stopgap measure to delay wear until they're all out of warranty, so when I bought my '19 I bought the Range device and haven't worried about it.

I have a 2017 with about 25K miles and no issues. I had the triple flush done and never had an issue.
I think you should be aware of possible issue, but it seems the triple flush along Range device seems to solve most of it.
Got a friend with a '15 A8 with 80,000+ trouble free miles. Another friend with a '17 also with 80K+ miles zero problems. I traded my '15 MN7 with 97,000+ miles for a '19 A8 and never hesitated for an instant... the MAJORITY of A8s have NOT experienced any problems.....
I joined the unfortunate group of those afflicted with A8 transmission issues a short time ago. Bought car with 1,200 miles on. By 1,500 I had the shudder. Triple flush seemed to lessen the jolt from 5th to 4th and 4th to 3rd but now have what can only be described as getting rear ended when downshifting to and from 7th. Dealer following same direction GM has been giving for years: 1) flush 2) new valve body 3) new TCM 4) prayer.
Others I know have no issues, others, similar to mine - damn luck of the draw with these A8 disasters. 400k views on trans failure post says a lot.
Roll the dice and good luck whichever way you choose to go.

Reading forum threads on the A8 will have you believing that 95% of all C7 A8s have issue as forums is where those with issues come to report/complain. You don't find the thousands of C7 A8 owners who have not had any issues creating threads on it.
Realistically, only approx 5% of C7 A8s have had issues and the triple-flush process has cured issues for the vast majority of them.

Will she actually drive it? I bought my C6 with an auto because my wife said she will also drive it but she did not use it once in 12 years. I eventually had to trade it in for a manual and got me a 2019 M7 C7.

No worries, A8 is a good transmission, just get the triple flush done if it hasn't already been done and buy a Range Device to keep it from going into 4 cylinder mode.

The triple flush has helped a lot with the A8 problem. But remember not all cars have experienced teh shudder and many may not do so. The Range Device also helps by keeping the car out of V4 mode.
If you buy a C7 with the A8 and the triple flush has not been done get it done and add the Range device. My 19 GS was built before the introduction of the new trans fluid so I took it in and complained of the shudder. It wasn't shuddering. The dealer did the triple flush, no questions asked. I have had the Range device since the car was new so I have a little piece of mind
