If the failure mode is identified then maybe we wouldnt need to rely on vague promises by dealers on whether or not our "fix" is a fix.

But like you said, I would not change having the 3LT for anything! It truly makes the car feel special.
Could not have said it any better than you just did. If mine has the problem if ever I will use post #8 where GM uses staples and special glue for life long fix! END OF STORY! Save your 3LT,3LZ PREMIUM LEATHER dashes and interior we are lucky to have this great looking interior ! THE INTERIOR ON CORVETTES HAS BEEN PICKED ON FOREVER DO NOT SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS IF YOU WANT THE BEST!!

If this process is indeed GM's methodology, then we only have to wonder if the fix includes the bubbling aspect of the leather in the field portions of the dash.

They likely won't notice the defroster vent retracting of the leather, but they almost certainly will notice the bubbling aspects of some 3lt dashes that fail

An extended warranty will not cover the dash. My 2016 was a certified used car and when I noticed the dash coming unglued right before the 3/36 warranty expired, the dealer informed me that the dash had to be replaced under the new car warranty because the GM certified warranty excludes interior parts. I had it replaced under warranty in 2018 and 18 months later I had it replaced a second time for the same issue. The part had gone under two more revisions when they covered the second replacement. When they have revisions, they no longer ship the previous part numbers.

This is great news and looks like a sure-fire fix, however if product improvement was implemented 'years ago' as stated in post # 8 (Product improvement on 2014-2019 Corvette 3LT dash pads, this change happened years ago so let's break it down) then why are the dashes still delaminating in 3LT C7s including 2019s?

Just wondering if this "fix" actually happened on a broad scale or if it's just another attempt at GM trying to get us to drink the Kool-Aid like they did for the A8 shudder issue for years and currently doing for the GS/Z06 wheel cracking/bending fiasco.

yes thank you I watched the video, not sure exactly when GM put the fix on the Dash, it seems that my 2019 should have had the fix. So I’m not sure this video is the gospel, as my dash on my 2019 had major dash issues.
I wish I knew the replacement the dealership put in had the new fix. I’m going to the dealership and see if I can talk to the tech that installed new dash. I’ll post what I find. Going in to dealership on Tuesday.

The dealership on the video is KEY CHEVROLET! Give them a call! It looks like they have several locations in New England Area. Good Luck!

That's what's confusing me. If there was/is a fix, you would think your C7 being a 2019 (final C7 production year) would certainly have it, yet your dash had major issues.

Kevin maybe they have found the fix after 2019 C7's were produced. Probably anything getting fixed now is from a current method as the 2019 is basically 3 years old. New upgraded fix probably only available for replacement dashes and was not used on any 2014 -2019 C7 3LT and 3Lz dashes. That would make all the sense in the world to me a fix after the C7 run was finished. That is how I am understanding this video from KEY CHEVROLET.

The 3LT issue is very real. At 2k miles mine was showing signs of separation, but fortunately not around the vents, just from the main surface. Im going to give you my techniques for addressing, which has worked for me.

1. I don't buy the argument that the leather doesn't need to be treated. All leather needs to be periodically treated with special conditioners, otherwise it will shrink. I use Leatherique Rejuvenating oil and prestine clean. Especially around the vents. This stops the shrinking. Shrinking is going to cause pulling so you need to condition leather.. i have used Leatherique for over 20 years, including my Porsche and Jaguar which both had leather dashes.

2. Using a hot iron with steam. The leather in my passenger door had separated significantly. What I do is take a very damp cotton undershirt and drape this across. With a hot iron and steam I carefully press this into the door card. It reheats the adhesive,, and then i press and massage the leather back into place.. i have also done this on my dash where it was separating, and it made a very significant improvement.

While i won't go as far as saying this is a permanent cure, it has made a big difference in my car. I have done this multiple times, and will likely need to do it periodically moving forward.

On the iron -- be careful. Do not use it directly on the leather. You need to have a clean damp cloth between the iron and the dash. I find cotton undershirts ideal for this. You don't want to burn the leather, so don't leave it stationary for more than a few seconds. You'll get the hang of it.

I dont have a solution for the leather peeling from the vents,, but leatherique rejuvenation oil will help keep the peeling happening from the first place. Many Ferrari's and others suffer from the same issue, and most of those owners failed to treat their leather dashes periodically.

Feel free to message me if I can help.

I'll continue to use a very lightly dampened with only water, microfiber towel on my 3lt dash. Topical conditioners will not help with substrate issues of shrinkage and or separation. Were my 3lt dash going to separate, it should have done so by all rights. My C7 bought new spent 15 months in direct sunlight post manufacturing date. You're going to have to ask your service department just what their repair involves.

Good luck with the warranty replacement on your 2019s that are giving some trouble.

That makes more sense Dave. Like I said I’m going to ask the tech who installed my new dash if there were bigger pieces of leather and staples on edges. Also in the video, the author was emphasizing yellow stitching in new replacement. I don’t know what color the original stitching was, so I don’t know for sure that if is valid for the new replacement dash. Maybe someone could tell me what color stitching does the original 3LT DASH HAVE. Calling Key Chevrolet!

Original stitching was Grey.Red and Yellow were a option but have no idea with how the stitching color could affect the dash. Let us know what Key Chevrolet has to say. I am sure a lot of C7 3LT and 3LZ owners are VERY curious. Good Luck Again!

Hi Dave!! I called Key Chevrolet Parts they know nothing about the video on the updated GM fix for the dash. As I watched the video there was indications that Key Chevrolet had made the video. I am however interested in the OP where he got the link? Wanted to post this so maybe someone knows where the link came from. Guess it could have come from the techs in service.

Hi Gary, this is a facebook video . Thee name of the guy is Thecorvettemechanic I do not have facebook but if you do or someone you know does just ask him directly about the video. When I clicked on Key Chevrolet it brings me to there facebook page. They are in Middleton Connecticut . Good Luck as this is the most info I have ever seen for a fix for the 3LT, 3LZ dash problem that some people are experiencing . Good Luck again and again Dave
