Performance Data Recorder Playback Brightnesss / Contrast
RE: 2016 Stingray
I haven't gotten around to playing with my Corvette Performance Data Recorder until now. I've made a couple of videos, and when I playback my recordings, they appear to be to dark. Is there a setting somewhere to bring up the brightness of the recording camera, or is something wrong with my recorder? I know a lot can be fixed in post by your favorite video editor, but I'd like the raw image to have better brightness / contrast to begin with. A video snip is included here. Time: 8:00AM Bright, cloudless sky. Looks like early evening!
It's late in the day and my brain is hurting, but I thought I remembered reading some threads where there was some video quality issues in earlier models that were addressed with a software upgrade???

Can anyone assist me with locating and confirming my current software revision?
@Let It Ride Sir, quick question. Your avatar says Northeast - your photo examples are clearly European landscape? So, where are you? LOL
Former military I can't help myself. As soon as I look at your pictures my first thought was that's Europe. Further examination the cross walk is a dead give away. LOL
Cheers

I am in NY. Those photos I took off the forum from a ask Tadge question. Maybe Tadge would know? lol
I have a 2015 which had the lousy video quality. I did the upgrade…it was still meh.
BUT
i also had my windshield replaced prior to the software update. It occurred to me to see if I could clean the PDR video lens. You can! I sprayed a little window cleaner on a mf towel. Definitely made an improvement.
They will all do that. The dynamic range of the camera is insufficient to handle varied lighting differences such as approaching the sun, driving away from the sun, sun through the side and shadows from trees, etc. I have some videos from VIR taken as I progress through a turn the video darkens to the point the cars in front of me literally disappear from view except when their brake lights are lit.
When playing back on a computer or other display you can adjust the brightness to overcome the dark areas of the video.
Thank you for the link. My version is the 2016, the next one after the 'green tint' fix.

Thanks for the info Bill. I will however, attempt to clean the lens as mentioned above.
