Default C7

Question, this is not a comparison question.
The C8 is heading into its third year of production. Typically the looks of previous models date quickly. How many here believe the looks and only the looks of the C7 today has become very dated, somewhat dated or as modern as when it was new?
Please, no price speculation responses.

I don't feel any iteration of Corvette looks dated. To me, each generation is a work of automobile art. And like all true art, their beauty never ages or becomes "dated" The only things that improve from model to model are the advancements in performance and technology. As long as my Stingray continues to turn heads when I'm driving around town, dated isn't even a consideration. It has the classic sportscar lines that never go out of style. Frankly, I'm not impressed with the styling of the C8 and that's as far as I will go on that subject.

The C7's styling is overly busy and the rear is a mush-mash, confused hodgepodge of a mess.

It is not particularly modern or dated.

But it is by far the best performing car for the money.

The C7 still seems modern because I can count the number of C8s I've seen on the road with just one hand. Once the C8 becomes commonplace then the C7 will gain the title of the "old" Corvette. People still ask me what year my C7 is and appear totally shocked when I tell them its 7 years old.

But I believe it will become rather dated as it was a continuation of front engine, rear drive so the shape/layout has remained the same for over half a century. And now comes the C8 which is, obviously, a total departure. Having said that, which is better looking is a whole 'nuther and more difficult question.....(and this is coming from a guy who still misses the pop up lights from his C5)

I, too, miss the pop up headlights on my C5 Z06, and on other cars I owned (e.g., Celica GT, MR2, etc.). The first pop lights were in the '20's as I recall so they were dated by the time I had them. But they still amused me.

I was always a Corvette fan, but never wanted one for myself until I saw the C7. I think it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Certainly the most beautiful American made car I can think of.

Great question by the way. When I was looking at either the 911 or the c7 my eyes kept coming back to the c7 for appearance and performance. I friend talked me into the c7 cause he had a c6 and said it looked dated compared to the c7. Now have a neighbor with a c8 and it looks amazing. Almost to European for my taste but still amazing. Hope I get mine back soon.

I have people ask if my '17 GS is the new corvette. It still looks modern to me, but I agree with what has already been said that all generations look timeless. I will say the C8 is growing on me and can't wait for the Z06 unveiling, however it would be really, really, really hard for me to give up my C7. . . I'm thrilled to have it and having a blast driving.

As modern as new. I think it looks just as good now as the 1st day I bought my z06 in 2015. I have parked my zr1 with c8’s all around it and I think my car looks better and attracts more attention than the c8’s. That may change with the new c8 z06 and I hope it does. So far I’m not a fan of the c8 but must admit I’m getting excited to see the z06.

There will always be people that like the C7 styling over and above anything else. I like the hard body lines of the C3 and C7 over the softer, rounded lines of the C5 and C6. I know people who hate the C8 and love the C7. I also know people who would not own anything but a C6. People ask me all the time if my car is one of the new corvettes. The C8 drives like a supercar and has more legroom than a C7, but harder to get in and out of and feels more confining.

Keep your Race Car over the C8 or C8 Z06! Can not beat the Front Engine Platform that has been around since 1953-2019 and Yes my friend From between Boston and the Cape you have the fastest Front Engine Corvette ever Made from your friend Very Close to the Cape! This which will not happen because very few were made is my favorite version of the C7 ZR1!

I believe the C6 made the C5 appear outdated as did the C7 to the C6, however I don't believe the C8 will have that effect the C7 as the C7 and C8 are so different.
Unlike many other Corvette models, I believe the C7 design will enjoy timelessness to some degree.

The C7 to me has the classic sleek lines of what a high performance sports car should look like and will always be viewed as such. As for the C8 it is a different look for the Corvette but not really a different look as far as design goes..

With all due respect, you appear to be in the wrong forum.

The C7 took the traditional short deck, long hood Vette look to its max. A beautiful design, great performance. Very well thought out.

Not n the wrong forum at all. I like my Z06/7 even though I am not fully impressed by the styling. I am far from the first to express this opinion.

As I pointed out in the portion of my post you chose not to quote, the car is, however, "by far the best performing car for the money."

In other words, I did not buy the car to look at it as a passive observer, I bought the car to drive it.

Kevin's observation on looks is excellent: "I don't believe the C8 will have that effect the C7 as the C7 and C8 are so different." This may turn out to be true.

This how we see it as well. Each gen has a timeless look. Our all time favorite gen strictly on external looks is not the C7, but we consider our C7 a gorgeous car. We don't feel the C8 has or will make the C7 look dated.

We trudge on.
