So I just bought a 2016 Z06. When I got home and was trying to get my phone hooked up, I noticed i didnt have the Andoid Auto feature. So yesterday i stopped by the chevy dealership to see what to do about getting the update done. I was told my cars VIN number was past what was on the service and it coulnt be updated. Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks for any help or suggestions
This is an interesting read. If you can't get Android Auto on your car you can load the app on your phone and use it as your interface. See below. Hopefully somebody else can help get it on your car. Maybe try calling a better dealer like MacMulkin? Ask for their service department.
AA was a standard feature starting in 2016. Some of the early builds only shipped with CarPlay, and had AA added as a software update at the dealer. So in the worst case, you might need to pay for a software update.
Look for an icon that says Projection. It'll turn into an AA or CarPlay icon when your phone is plugged in. If it's not on the main screen, swipe to one of the side screens to see if it's there instead.

It doesn't have it in the settings menu. It has apple car play, but not Android auto. I went by the dealership and they checked on the update. Also I called GM, both told me the same thing. My vin number is past the number that is eligible for the update, by like 50000 numbers. So not even close. So the won't do the update. I have a ticket in with gm trying to research and find out what to do. It sucks because this was one feature I upgraded to the 2016 for.
I don't see anything about only certain VIN being eligible for the Android Auto upgrade. Labor was listed as 0.4 hr.
Note that Z06 VIN started with "5" when base, Z51, and GS start with "1".
See the attached service_bulletin_16-na-042_-infotainment_system_upgrade_for_android_ auto_feature
You may have to provide the bulletin number and/or a printout to the dealer...
When you get a second, pull up your version info. Press POWER+HOME+MENU buttons at the same time. Tap HMI, then use the menu **** to scroll down to these values. Let me know what the three underlined values are on your unit.

Absolutely agree. I was going to post that bulletin myself. I don't know where they're getting this VIN range nonsense from.
Interesting thread. I just checked the door sticker on my '16 and it lists 9/15 as the build month. I do not have Android Auto listed. I never really paid attention as I usually just connect my phone and play music. I'm going to stop into my local Chevy dealer and see if my car "qualifies" for the update.
Is this a warranty issue? I ask because I got the car in June of this year, it being a CPO car with the additional 12 month/12K mile warranty.
I talked to these guys and upgraded, but my car is a 2015. Your issue may be different.
They may be the ones to talk to. They communicate better with text messages and website chat , but provide a good service.
Ok. I know for a fact that can be upgraded. I've got that same part number from a 2016 Chevy Malibu. But it's running 15.2B033 vs your 15.1A044, and it has Android Auto enabled. It doesn't matter what car it came out of. They all run the same hardware and software. There's just some settings changed to turn on the Corvette specific settings.
You've got a couple options.
Find a dealer that you can work with, and just tell them you want the newest HMI software loaded on your car. There's two kinds of programming on these. The big USB update, and the calibration settings. It's described in the bulletin RonC7 posted. The USB update is what gets you up to the new software version, and the calibrations are what set all the settings for your specific car.
I think they can do a core exchange where they send out a new, updated module and you send your old one back after it's installed and working. It's super easy to swap this module out. It's under the dash near the hood release. You don't even need any tools. They can even update the GM maps to the latest version if you care about that.
I'd go with option 2. It's cheaper and you can do it yourself in a half hour in the comfort of your garage.
All I can say is that on my 2016 Stingray was updated at my dealer for Android Auto and Apple Carplay. All 2016 models could be updated to have those two features.

My 2016 C7 was built Sept of 2015 and was delivered Sept 25 2015. Oct 15 2015 it was serviced and had 500 mile oil change and they installed Android Auto and added the missing speed timer !!

What is the missing speed timer? I wonder if I have that?
I stopped into my local dealership today asking about the update and for "some" reason they checked the VIN and said mine qualifies, but that I'd have to pay for it. They said it'd take about an hour so roughly a $100 charge. I told them I'd stop back in a couple of weeks. I guess even though it's a CPO car I'll still have to pay for it, but in the long run what's $100 if I can get access to all the features?
My 2016 C7 with a build date of 10/12/15 was able to be upgraded to Android Auto. I had it done at City Chevrolet in Charlotte. As the dealership is owned by Rick Hendrick, they are the premier Corvette dealer in the area.
