Default Nail in runflat

Have a 2019 ZO6 and have a small nail in rear drivers tire in center of tire. Very slow leak, about a pound in 4 days. Tempted to plug it myself to avoid grease monkeys jacking up car and destroying my wheel.

Suggestions?

Sounds like you have a plan just takes a little muscle to make the hole bigger for the plug. I've had success many times on my run-flats

Same for me. I didn't want to remove tire&wheel, didn't want to chance scratches....
I bought 'Dynaplug Tubeless Tire Repair Tool Kit - PRO Aluminum' on Amazon $54. Worked great and I carry the kit in my car now. No compressor yet.
See also 'Dynaplug Ultralite Xtreme Tubeless Tire Repair Tool Kit'
I haven't had good luck with the usual glue&stripes kits.

(Check out YouTube videos on Dynaplug usage)

If it were me, I would take it to a competent tire store (like Discount Tire if one is nearby) and have them plug and patch the puncture. I do believe that is what is recommended by the tire manufacturer..

Since you don't have a Discount Tire store anywhere near you I would suggest going to a large Michelin retailer and have them repair the tire. The best way to repair the tire is to break it down and apply a patch on the inside. Michelin says the tires are repairable one time. The issue is finding a store that will repair them since some stores are worried about liability concerns.

I have had several GY EMT and one Michelin ZP tire patched properly from the inside and have had no issues running them on the track.

I would also suggest an expert repair. In fact I just had one done in the same area. There is a Michelin approved type of plug that is kind of a cross between an internal patch and a plug--looks a little like a mushroom. I do, however have the same concern about my car, so I removed the wheel, removed the weights, and took it in to the tire shop for repair. So far so good!

I just had the same issue. Since my late father used to sell tire repairs supplies to tire shops, I insisted on " safety seal " brand plug repair. There's a reason I will only use that brand. Take it for what it's worth but it's your car, do as you wish.

Jack your car up and remove the tire and take it to a competent tire store and have them repair or replace the tire. A grease monkey does not damage your wheel the wrong tire machine does. Fine a shop that has a Hunter Revolution tire changer and kid can remove your tire from the wheel with no damage !!!

Plugged two of my rear runflats by myself and neither have had issues in 10,000 miles.

Good luck if the tire must be replaced. Michelin customer service sucks....it can take as much as 6 mos to get a Corvette replacement tire. I switched to Continentals.

I am told that the inside of the tire must be cleaned/scuffed before the patch is applied.

The key is both plug and patch. Probably will be fine with plug only if you want to gamble just a little.

See post #9. The plug is pulled through the hole from the inside of the tire and mushroom part is the "patch".

I do NOT consider any Discount Tire franchise "necessarily" a competent tire store. It all depends on who is doing the work (not where you go to get the work done).

The BEST repair, as noted above, is a plug w/an attached patch, which requires the bead to be broken but does NOT require the tire to be removed entirely from the rim.

Any "competent" tire repair person can do this repair in just a few minutes.

Patch it, is what I've done before. I wouldn't want a plug in my C7's tire.
