Default C7 engine

New to the forum,
I’m looking for a rebuilt engine for my 2014. This will be engine number 4. First and second engine, dropped valves, third engine locked up.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

At the rate you're going could have bought a replacement from Chevy for a lot less money than you're spending. I'd take it to Chevy dealer and be done with it..... seven Vettes, 31 years 979,000+ mies....

Ok, gotta ask... what kind of power are you running? That would be astonishing if you've been all stock and had 3 grenade on you!

Third engine cost $12,000 + at the dealer. That’s the one I’m replacing. I have zero faith in any dealer right now. Latest engine lasted 16000 miles

Yes, three engines. First at about 85000 miles dropped 2 valves. GM covered that one. Second engine went to 106000 miles. Dropped 4 valves. Out of warranty. Third engine has locked up at 121000 miles.

Maybe you need to consider changing your driving and maintenance habits?

It is HIGHLY unusual for someone to have to replace three engines - it is not like these things go around doing a complete failure all the time. Something just does not sound right.

However, if you are not doing something that leads to the engine failures, I would say it is time to find another car. That one is jinxed.

Agreed. That's weird. 3 engines completely grenading? Thats strange.

My suggestion to the OP would be to get a stock LT1 with low miles.

Weird?
If I were you I'd hire out to GM as a engine tester?

312,000 miles on a 2014? It's definitely not a garage queen. Don't think I could do that if I tried.

You must have started drinking early 🥃. I think he was pointing out the miles BETWEEN each engine catastrophe, not a total of over 300K miles total on the CAR. Still a very impressive number of miles he’s driven in about 7-8 yrs.👍

Why would you recommend an Ls6 port injected motor from the C6 platform? Don't drink and post ok. Haha.

Sell the F-in car & move on. It's like dumping money into an ex-wife.

So when valves" drop" it's generally either:

Valve Spring Failure
Valve Spring Retainer / Lock failure
The Valve itself Failing (breaking).

I've seen each of these, and I've never seen an engine where multiple valves are "dropped" at the same time. So, my question is what RPM were you at when these multiple valve drops happened ???

As for what to do now - I don't believe that LS6 Crate engines are available any more. I know the LS6 Block is no longer available. (And honestly - the LS6's had issues with valve spring failures - so even with a brand new LS6 motor - I would change the valve springs before installing it.) If I were in your position, I would go to a reputable race engine builder, and have him look at your current engine (the one that locked up), and see if he thinks it's rebuildable / salvageable. If it is - have it rebuilt for "endurance" application (not high power or competition use). I would highly recommend going with wiih quality double valve springs, and then have a tuner reprogram the PCM to limit red line to around 5,500. (And if you enjoy downshifting to slow the car - I's suggest that you Don't Do That).
