Ok, did the Amazon work out 3/4" foam rubber mat type insulation treatment with a Lloyds mat on top to the hatch area and behind the seats for noise suppression. Here's my take for what it's worth. As far as less road noise it is barely discernable if at all. But here's the weird thing, music is definitely more clear and recognizable than before. The reason I know this is because I played several selected songs at a predetermined volume before and after the install. Sometimes when the next song would begin playing it took a few seconds to recognize the song due to it being muffled by the road noise. Now the music is more clearly defined and easier to recognize. The road leaving my neighborhood is pretty textured for about a mile or so and then smooths out so the road noise is pretty pronounced at that time. It definitely helped in that aspect.
All in all for what it cost and the cutting of the mat and the install time I'd say it was worth it because there is a difference and I didn't set my expectations too high. I do have the Crazy Cowboy's sound insulation kit and will hopefully eventually get him to install it if he makes a trip to Texas or if he allows I will take a mini vacation and get him to install it in Florida. But for now I'm happy and there is a difference in the clarity of the music and truthfully that was all I wanted anyways.
I have sound deadening throughout and AS 3+ tires on the Z06 convertible. I am very happy with the result.
A couple weeks back I tossed a weatherTech mat in the trunk. I was shocked how that addition made the exhaust sound so much more “out the back” than before.
Glad you're happy. An "Advanced Search" here will generate many threads about sound deadening, good, bad, and ugly. .
Yeah it's definitely one those subjective subjects. It probably is just a little quieter ( didn't want to give anyone false hopes ) or maybe the drone is in a lower tone which allows the clarity to be better. Great reference, my favorite western of all time!
the foam will reduce some frequencies. The butyl rubber vibration damper will make a larger difference in the interior noise. A lot more work to do. You typically install vibration damper and sound deadener together.
