Best tire you will find if you have budget in mind is Firestone Indy 500 Oval. The guys where I track my car swear by them so I picked up a set and tried them over the weekend....very pleased!

Hello all, first post.
My Father recently got his 2017 Grand Sport, he is 80 y/o and absolutely loves it.
Tires are on the agenda. He factory performance option tires (two sipes around the the circumference of the the tire, very little else in the way of tread pattern) sorry I don't have the model.

He recently drove from Oregon to Florida, to Michigan and back to Oregon.
Only one complaint on the current skins, The road noise.

Now before anybody screams its a vette, he is well aware of that, as I said absolutely loves this car.

He doesn't push this car much but isn't afraid to put his foot into it. It sees some Oregon rain, but only because it can't be avoided, otherwise a fair weather driver. Also, he had the above mentioned tires in rain, and said they did fine, no hydroplaining etc. He wants to keep with runflats.

seems concensus is Michelin A/S 4 + ZP , will they be a shade quieter on different pavements??

Also, those damn rims.. beautiful but weak.. closest to factory look, but stronger recommendations?

I felt this was a good add to this thread, if not, please do yell at me to start a new one.

Thanks everyone..

At least now I will not cringe every time I hit a pebble on the road that my stock wheels won't bend or crack !!!
Good luck with your choice of tires.

Are they stock rims easily damaged? I have hit various potholes so far and haven't noticed any issues.

Yes, the wide bodies, GS ZO6, there have been a ton of people who have had their wheels crack or bend. GM in most respects will not cover them. I did not have a problem with mine. I do watch where I drive but I have hit a few imperfections in the road. Do a search here, "there is a thread for people to sign up who have damaged wheels".
Good luck,
Rich

It all depends on what you want. There are options to suit everyone.
Elk, also depends where you live. I live in the San Diego area and don't have to worry about temps falling below 40 very often. So the MPSS work great. Getting the all seasons may by me slightly quieter, and less rocks being thrown up but i have greater handling and no cold weather worries. As like you I enjoy the handling. Are the all seasons really much quieter. I have heard most say not much and others say quite a bit.

Yes, I just looked at that post and it appears all are either GS or Z06, I guess I lucked out on this since I have a lowly Stingray.

Yes, a good point.

However, one needs to be sensitive to weather effects on tires, no matter what tires you are running or where you happen to live.
