Do a little research. The M7 has it's issues, too. Once the AFM is eliminated with a Range unit or tuned out, the A8 has a pretty good track record. The issues with the M7 aren't resolved quite as easily.
What issues with the M7 do you speak of? Never had a single issue with my 17Z.
Please correct me if I am wrong. The c7 with a M7 transmission does not have DOD. Does that mean the engine doesn't have the DOD lifters?
Yes it does have DOD / AFM. But with the M7 it only kicks in if you put it in 'Economy' mode. In 2 years I haven't done that with my 2019 M7 and never intend to!

Thanks. Why do they even put an economy mode on a Corvette. I hate to shift gears any more but I found out after I bought my automatic how much trouble some they are.

I wish I had read all the posts I could on this forum before I bought my a8 c7. I am finally use to all the gadgets on the c7 but I have had so many problems with the drivetrain that I have don't have any faith in the car. An older lady owned the car and it must have went into v4 a lot. What I thought was transmission shudder, after the transmission fluid change turned out to be a bad torque tube. This was at 5400 miles. I think my best bet is to trade for a M7. The car only has 6k miles now. Thanks for the info.

The A8 is very problematic. It's really unfortunate. I bought a new M7. I'm glad I did.

So once you fixed the problem you are going to trade the car? The next owner will thank you. There are plenty of people that drive A8s without any issues from AFM. Switching cars to avoid future torque tube issues may not work as M7s can have torque tube issues as well. It mostly depends on the driver of the car which issues show up.

And I've never had any problems with my A8. That doesn't mean that they don't exist. Do a search on M7 in this forum and the internet in general. You will see that the M7 isn't perfect. But then again, what is? 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
Regarding M7 and A8 issues, it might be informative to see which has its own "permanent" (sticky) problem thread here.
Yeah, and 99.99% of those problems (there are a few valve body problems) are as a result of the clutch shudder caused by the transmission fluid not the transmission. Generally, a triple flush solves that. You can't point a finger at the A8 because the wrong fluid was installed by GM. All things being equal, in a race, a programmed A8 will shift faster and out perform a manually shifted M7 every time. .

OUTPERFORMS THE M7 EVERY TIME BY GOD!! Well that changes everything!! They need to remove that sticky NOW !!!
p.s. 99.99% really? That’s some precision right there. Where did you get that statistic?
pss. I think A8s are just fine. I have one in my 2020 Silverado
