Default Trans issue

2016 Stingray, bought in March 2021 with 15800 miles. Original owner did not do the trans fluid flush per the GM bulletin. I had it done right after I bought the car at 16000 miles and at my cost. Now I got a check engine light at 19000 miles and a P0711 error code saying a trans sensor has an issue. Dealer has car. So far they believe its the trans that is the problem. Their trans guy is busy and cant get to it until next week. And I am out of warranty. My question is: has anyone had any luck getting GM to pay for replacing the torque converter and/or the transmission with this issue and no warranty?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Unfortunately, any repairs are on your dime.

I'd seriously consider contacting a local performance shop that works on our cars.

You'll get better service, faster turnaround, better parts, and lower cost for sure over a dealership.

Post your general area and we can help find a few local shops we recommend.

You might also want to check when the first in-service date was, there may be a slight chance you still have your power train warranty in tact. Did you purchase any extended warranty?

I wonder if you noticed any symptoms with your transmission. A electronic problem, like a failed sensor, can trigger a CEL when there is nothing major wrong with the transmission. Maybe a simple reboot of the transmission control module would solve the problem.

Good idea. However, if no warranty is active, I would bet GM will deny any assistance, especially since you are not the original owner.

711Code is a trans temp sensor code ,there is TSB on it but it will be on your own dime. Its the replacement of the inside harness and temp sensor
$350 for harness ,$500 for labor
I get this code when it gets cold down here in GA , luckily that's not often . been clearing the code and won't see it for a while .. No performance issues are caused by this code .....

For 850 ... I just clear code

With any code reader , when I don't feel like whipping out my laptop and the GDS2 software I just use a 25 dollar Autel code reader I got off of Amazon

As an incentive to check other options, a dealer wanted to charge me 4 grand to replace the transmission....and this was with the drivetrain out of the car for TC work...and that repair was 4K
