First make sure it hasn't moved to a different page by swiping the page. Then you could try the reset.

How is resetting the engine control module and transmission control module going to change how the Settings icon behaves?

Does pulling the ECM/TCM fuse effect more than these two modules?

The OP isn't complaining about how the "Settings" icon behaves.

He can't FIND the Settings icon. It's disappeared.

Yes, and disappearing is a behavior - although this is absolutely silly to argue about.

But this is not my query in any event. I am asking how resetting the engine control module and transmission control module is going to have any impact on the Settings icon.

Do you know?

Elmer, I was corrected about that there are many capacitors that hold a charge and the system will not completely reset without shorting the two camles long enough to drain them so yes it is different from just pulling a fuse

Well, crap. I'll edit my notes and correct my post.

Thanks

"Disappearing is a behavior". Nice try.

But no, I don't know how resetting ONLY those 2 modules would have any impact in this case. That said, the hip bone is connected to the thigh bone and the thigh bone is connected to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, etc.

I COULD (generally) explain how resetting a device containing computer chips can/may restore behaviors but you probably know that yourself.

UPDATE: Took it to the dealership and they couldn't figure it out. They were on the phone to Chevy & GM, and their best guess was to change the HIM (Human Input Module). They did it, reprogramed it, and the icon is now back where it was.

So, you killed your human in the car! You are deadly!

I'm glad the dealer and GM could figure it out.

Excellent news!

I am glad they figured it out, but it certainly took a bit of work and time.

Thanks for letting us know.
