Default NAV Screen went Black

Well, I read about this and now it's happened on my 2015 Z51. I googled a lot of the forum discussions on this and watched how to replace the screen and remove the dash on youtube videos posted by Corvette Hopp. I imagine this would cost a fortune to have the dealer do the work because the labor is so intensive. It looks like the Nav screen is around $500, which isn't too bad. Has anyone had this done and no what it costs at dealer to do? Thanks in advance for your help.

I recall reading that if it's intermittent it could be due to a loose connection as the module is in the passenger feet area..... Not sure if it's fake news or not....

Earlier this year I had my Infotainment screen act up - it would flash random things on the screen (flickering) and on occasion would go blank. Had the dealer replace the screen under an extended warranty. During the repair process, the tech cracked the bezel that goes around the shifter (automatic) - and to his and the service advisors credit, they let me know about it and replaced it during the repair (it was not really that noticable and it may have been a long time before I would have seen it). Total cost for the new bezel was $403.98 and the screen was $600. After tax and labor, the total repair was $1357.32.

I always heard the common issue was a cutout microswitch when the screen is closed

Thank you all for your input and sharing your cost experiences. For whatever reason it is working again, but I'm sure it will come back. Too bad this is happening, I know it's a 2015 model but it only has 23,000 miles on it and I had read one time that using the storage cubby behind the screen could lead to this, I have never really used the screen up or down switch.

The blue wire becomes frayed over time. Had mine replaced in May of 2020. Part: $742.52. Labor: $390.00

Is the wire permanently attached to the unit? If so, I'm guessing that $750 to purchase the entire thing is reasonable.

If the wire is detachable, couldn't the tech just replace it for much, much less?

I had problem with the screen on my 2015, 98+k miles, it would go black or just freeze not work at all or the radio would still play with a black screen. I read here on the forum about the module in the drivers kick panel and the wires sometimes come loose. I made sure the wires were secure and havent had the problem since, been over a year since that problem

If it's the wire causing the problem, then this thread is the cheap cure: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...cheap-fix.html

Check your HMI connections. The wires at the bottom on mine were lose and that was causing random black outs. Once I re-seated the connectors no more problems. Zero cost and two minutes of checking.

GM Dealer replaced mine today. Screen would flicker, go Blank or come alive for a short period. Tech said it was internal not the cable. The cost for the Nav Screen $840.72 Cnd and Labour $468.88 Cnd for a Total of $1309.60. Hope this helps any Canadian owners

I have a 2016 Vette, and my screen went out intermittently. When it came back on, I went to settings and restored to factory settings. Everything seems to be working fine now.
