I've recently purchased a 2008 C6 with less than 13,000 miles. I purchased it based on appearance without even sitting in a Corvette. Love the looks. Don't love the "comfort". I'm a little thick in the middle. 44" waist.
It's a base LT1 with Z51. If I sell it, I'd love to get in a C7 but I'm afraid it'll be just as uncomfortable to me. Are the seats in the C7's any wider in the hips? C8?
Coming from a 2011 GS and 2019 GS. C7 seats have a rigid magnesium frame, the C6 seats have a flexible carbon fiber frame. I found my C6 seats to be quite nice for touring but lacking in lateral support when cornering. The C7 seats are outstanding in the corners but not quite as nice as the C6 seats when touring. The consensus seems to be that the C6 seats are more accommodating of big folks. I’ve read, but don’t know from personal experience, that C8 seats are more accommodating than the C7 seats because the C8’s central tunnel is narrower than the C7’s central tunnel allowing for wider seats in the C8. Just my experience.
I traveled to the left coast after picking up my C6 3LT at the Corvette Museum and never found the seats uncomfortable.
If i am going on over a two hour drive in the C7, I bring a car seat cushion. I am three pounds heavier than I was then. Everything, except the seats are better in the C7.
I actually love my C7 seats, but owning both........you will definitely find the C7 seats to be more cramped. My C7 is definitely a tighter fit cockpit when compared to the roominess of the C6.
If you don't like the C6 seats, you're not going to like the C7 seats. They're fine for me, but I'm a skinny bastard, and that left side seat bottom stiffness of those C7 seats doesn't bother me because I don't have enough weight to compress them down to the frame. Though it is close. And I'm only 140 Lbs. Go out and find a C7 and sit in it.
