Default Soler TB installation question

Has anyone installed their Soler TB without disconnecting the battery? Any adverse consequences?

Thanks in advance.

I just installed mine and drove it around to "teach" the computer no problems at all. I am testing the new Soler DLX throttle controller.. so far having both is awe inspiring..

x2.

Installed my Soler TB and TC simultaneously without disconnecting the battery. Logged some miles with the TC in OE mode before configuring it at Sport 5 which is, IMO, perfect. Zero problems. Good luck, OP!

Thanks for your quick replies. I just installed my TB and completed the initial learning procedure. Did not disconnect battery. No issues. No CELs. First start yielded slightly higher and fluctuating idle momentarily. It settled down after maybe 20 seconds. Initial impressions are it is smoother on acceleration. Did not get on it at all yet. Will drive some more before adding the TC.

Your experience mirrors mine.

Keep in mind that in OE mode, the TC is a simple pass-thru for throttle signals. You can safely install it any time, and leave it in OE mode until you're ready to play with it.

Got CEL after I installed mine. Disconnected battery and started over. CEL came back on after about ten miles. The car is running fine otherwise.

I need to get my TB and TC installed. Hopefully no CEL will appear if I do not disconnect the battery.

I started in the Sport 5,7 etc. and then I tried Lu3-4 and it scared the crap out of me and then I went back to Sport but then back to Lu mode and got use to it and how to accelerate in Lu mode. So, I have gone through Lu,5,6,7,8 and now comfortably drive in Lu9 all the time and love it when I need it but also respect the mode but it feels normal to me now.

I checked out the new one and it has allow of modes and wonder if it is worth replacing my current Soler TC. Looking forward to your reviews.

Below is a question that I asked Mike @ Soler Engineering, and his answer is below and thought I would share with those considering the newest version.

Wow Mike, you continue to innovate and beat the competition and entice people to spend more money with you. Is there a trade in option? So, what’s your sales pitch on why switch from my hard wire Soler TC to Bluetooth TC? Thanks, Kyle

Thanks, Kyle. In summary, performance features are the same, we just added premium features, convenience, and better looks. With our basic TC you have Eco, OEM, Comfort, Sport, and Ludicrous modes. These stay the same for DLX BT TC, the added features are:

  • App control, allows you completely install the controller out of sight/reach.
  • Drag Race, a shortcut to the maximum possible output.
  • AI, an automatic mode that learns driving habits and self-adjusts.
  • Valet mode, limits throttle to whatever you consider necessary to move the car and park it (no joy rides, or teenager control)
  • Lock mode, disables the pedal. Can be used as a theft deterrent.
  • M mode, allows for ease of clutch engagement for those with manual transmissions.
  • Weather mode, limits acceleration and improves vehicle stability under slippery conditions.
  • Improved (richer) OLED display with auto-brightness and throttle gauge.
  • Heavy-duty harness.
  • We also think it is more aesthetically pleasing for those who want to install it on sight.
  • Wider performance spectrum, which is also subdivided into more refinement levels.
  • Premium features like; Valet, Lock, Transmission Type, Weather (Anti-Slip), Drag-Race, etc.
  • A richer OLED display, with real-time throttle gauge, and auto-brightness.
  • Anodized Aluminum construction, with polished aluminum trims and buttons, rather than plastic.
  • More compact, minimalistic design, arguably a better match for any high-end car interior.
  • Much better value.

Thanks,Mike (727)-667-9225

@KGrant Thanks for the info. Just curious if Mike mentioned anything about being able to trade in a previously bought TC for the new one? I have one that has never been installed.

@Vetteman Jack I assume since the previous model sells for $95 and the used ones I've seen have listed for $50-$70 shipped then I would likely just list and sell here on the forum. That said, I did not see a trade in option on his Soler's site as I am sure he has enough unsold units of the previous version but financially it probably doesn't make sense for Mike to take in used or unopened units for such a relatively reasonable priced mod.

I did the same, but settled on Sport 5 (which I understand to be the most "linear") as my go to.
