I have been storing cars here in Cold Winter Michigan at my home for 30 years, I also pump up tires to 35 psi, hook up battery tender, around 1/4 tank of gas and wait for Spring and NEVER any problems. I try to at least get to December 1st before storing so I catch those last good days in November before the snow really hits.
Like many others I fill the gas tank, put in stabilizer, steel wool in the exhaust tips and battery tender. But I also put a bunch of dryer sheets in a plastic sandwich bag and put it in the trunk, get a couple plastic cups and put cotton ***** in the cup, soak the cotton ***** with oil of peppermint and put one in each side of the engine bay then put one on drivers side and passenger side floor (re-soak every 2 months) . The mice HATE the smell of Peppermint. It might be overkill ( my garage is finished) but haven't had one sign of critters. Plus it smells good come spring lol!!

Been storing lots of sportscars over many years and have never had any damage from rodents. My success has not been going to all lengths (which are mostly not effective but only myths) protecting the cars from the mice, but to taking steps to eliminate the mice.
