Went to crank car today and the car would not start, took battery out removed all cables and wires and took to Advance Auto and they did a rapid charge and said the battery was good.
I brought battery back home, put the battery in and now the engine light is on? I only let the car run a minute and the engine light would not go off
Would crossing the two red wires on the battery cause this? Please help

Or, buy a cheapo reader and do it yourself. I think mine was $25 or so, and works fine with everything I've ever used it on. The reader's manual typically comes with most codes; others or additional details can be looked up online. Good luck with your issue.
A code reader in the glove compartment will give peace of mind in the event you get a Check Engine Light (CEL), as it illuminates for hundreds of reasons, and getting a CEL on a cross country trip produces anxious moments till you know what it has seen.
The reader plugs into the Onboard Diagnostic Code (OBD) port on the driver's side above the hood release. The OBD codes can be found at https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ Many readers have the codes programmed into memory. YouTube has hundreds of videos on how to us OBD II readers/scanners
OBD II reader prices run the gamut depending on whether it's a reader or does deeper diagnostics. Amazon shows over 1000 readers available.
You can buy a HyperTough code reader at Walmart for about $25 dollars that will work. It will show the codes and let you reset it to turn the light off.
