Any advice is appreciated. Coincidently this all started right after I had the car emission tested and a local garage plugged their scanner in to the odb port. Could this be related to that or would it just be coincidence? Would this be a hardware or software issue?
Here is what is going on :
The infotainment screen went blank. I was searching issues with this and there is a way to "Re-boot" the system by pressing the home key and fast forward key simultaneously. And or pressing the on star blue button on the mirror. It brings the infotainment screen back and seems to operate ok. Except sometimes when it's in radio mode the pre-programmed buttons for radio stations are light grey. Then if you turn the car off and on the pre programmed radio buttons come back. See photo.

My 2019's screen went blank recently and the dealership initially replaced the screen but that didn't fix the issue, then they replaced the HMI module and that fixed the issue. Not saying yours needs that, but that is a possibility.
I found mine were not firmly seated causing random radio and screen glitches. These connectors are near the OBD-II, dead pedal and hood release lever. Could be unrelated but it takes just a minute or so to ensure the wiring harnesses are snapped in fully.

Will do. That could be it seeing how it was just emission tested for license renewal A connector not fully seated could have gotten jiggled lose when the tech was plugging in and removing the reader.
Methinks replacing the battery will resolve the problem.
thanks to everyone on this thread for your input.
Un-connected and reconnected the hmi connectors and put a new ac/delco battery with a date code of oct 2021. Even though my car was a 2017. The original battery in it was date coded from mid 2016. Seems to have fixed the infotainment screen problem. I am guessing it was most likely the battery.
No it's not a battery problem. I have yet to check my HMI connections but my AUX where I plug in my MP3 player has stopped working altogether and all the radio stations become blank on and off just like yours. All sounds stop and sometime the entire screen freezes too.

what year is your c7? How old is the battery? Even if it wasn't the battery I was due as the battery was over 5 years old from the date code. If it is the screen or the hmi module. I have a gmpp zero deductible until sept 2025. I have time to get it addressed. But right now it's working. Before the new battery it would go wonky within a couple of minutes after starting it. --- maybe it was the connection in the hmi module. Unplugging and re-seating then could have had something to do with it as well. I am taking the car on a little road trip tomorrow. Will see how the mystery world of the high tech c7 infotainment screen holds up. Lol!

OP - hopefully what you have done fixes the infotainment screen problem. I had to replace the screen in my '14 earlier this year and it works like it should, and if the problem returns with yours, replacement may be the way to go.

2016 stingray, battery is 3 months old. When I have a few minutes I will go check the connections. By the way I had a warrantee and the dealer bamboozled me in NOT fixing this issue and other problems. I despise dealers!!!

I looked at my warranty and it is ambiguous on whether infotainment is covered or not. In any event it says it's limited to 3k for electronics. Everyone has an angle to make a buck. Lol!
I realized when my AUX port finally went totally kaput the radio station stopped going faulty. I drove the car at least 2 hours today and the radio stations worked fine. I'm using my MP3 player in an FM transmitter for now but the sound isn't as good but at least I have music.
So I disconnected all connectors on the HMI and sprayed some contact cleaner. Results : nothing
Tell me about replacing the screen my guy said the unit is about $800 and a coupe of hours labor total about $1100.
Thanks
Sounds a little steep. I had the display in my brother's 2014 replaced by the local Corvette guy a couple of months ago for $800.00 total. The units show on line to sell for about $500.00.
Thanks for posting this! I located and just pushed all of the cables to ensure they were secure. Turned on the car and music and screen were back! Will monitor moving forward.
