Default Infotainment Display Assembly New $590

I futzed with my 2014 Corvette "Display Assembly; Driver Information" (aka. "Driver Info Center Module", “Radio Control Assembly”, "F Display") for the past 2 years to stop the jitters, until it finally blacked out all of the time. I spent yesterday afternoon disassembling the center console and instrument panel surround to remove the unit. Not a difficult task (a couple of plastic trim removal tools from Advance Auto, Torx, and hex sockets), but one should repeatedly review these How-To YouTube videos and keep handy to refer to while doing the job:

Word of advice not shown in the videos: move the driver's seat all the way back, move the steering wheel to the lowest position, open the windows and remove the top, start the engine and move shifter all the way to the rear BEFORE disconnecting the battery. It will give you the most working room.

Also, not shown in the videos: you must remove the center passenger side grip trim to access a bolt underneath in order to remove the chromed plastic bead surround trim. It is not otherwise obvious, but the bead trim must be removed as it sits in grooved tabs on the instrument panel surround that will prevent the panel from being removed.

After the display module removal, I could not find any obvious problems, but it is probably a broken circuit board where the USB cables connect up inside. I could not find a way to disassemble unless I drill out the fasteners, so maybe a later job.

Replacement units are getting harder to find and more expensive, as much as $975 just for the unit quoted to me by a dealer plus additional labor costs to R&R.

Here is a source for a replacement display module with a reasonable price:AJR Intl Electronics Repair (https://www.ajrinternational.com/). AJR is one of only five GM Electronic Service Centers authorized to provide GM Radio and Cluster Exchanges both in and out of warranty. Although AJR services auto dealers, if you call Chico at 800-232-3965, they will sell you a unit outright, no exchange. I paid $590 +$20 overnight shipping, and it arrived in less than 24 hours even though I live out in the boonies. Or you can send your unit to their Repair Dept., 300 Regency Dr., Glendale Heights, IL 60139 for repair (they quoted me $500).

Note that your original unit's GM Part # may be 23434219. However, it has been superseded over the years by backwards compatible # 84182649, 84577759, 84664816, and 86542368. AJR sent me a brand new GM 86542368 unit, not a rebuilt. If you search around and ask for any of the earlier units, you may get a response that it is Backordered, No Longer Available, Out of Stock, etc.

Good luck!

Whelp....8 years old and 90,000 miles...I seem to have been indoctrinated into this membership. dammit. LOL.

2015 3LT
I replaced 3 modules a few years back from infotainment.com in order to give me CarPlay. Everything has worked flawless after the swap.

Symptoms:
-If in CarPlay and listening to music. Music will stop after a few minutes. When the audio stops, it stops with a brief static burst. Display/screen shows it still playing tho, but no audio.
-I can still manipulate the screen while IN CarPlay...selecting different apps, songs...etc.
-If the screen is NOT in car play (phone plugged in or not doesn't seem to matter) and it's showing another basic screen, I can't use the fixed buttons to manipulate any screen or menu. BUT, the touch screen itself works. I can select "WEATHER" and so on. But still no audio during this issue. Radio presets also get grayed out.
-sometimes the screen is just blank to begin with.
-Back up camera display works fine...EVERY time which is weird.

Car battery is maybe 3 years old. I'm CERTAIN it's not that.

The inside did get a little wet recently. I had the windows cracked barely a finger width. I was not expecting the biblical epic storms to roll through otherwise I wouldn't have done THAT. Anyway, seats were really damp...everything took a couple days to fully dry out. It's been epic humid here in ATL the last few days. I actually bought a portable AC unit for the garage just to dry the damn car out!! LOL. ugh.

I don't think it was a water issue. I've had WAY more rain in the car from a track day years ago and never had an issue from that. So....just a crazy coincidence ? Who knows.

Those are my symptoms as of today. I will check connectors later and disconnect the battery for a while.

I didn't get the chance to mess with it yesterday...other things came up. BUT, I had to execute a max performance braking maneuver for a moment and BOOM...the screen, radio, everything woke up.

Hmmmmmmm. Gotta be a connector Maybe I'll dig into it this afternoon.

Question for those that did this (being prepared for the future....), were you able to test the new display before buttoning up the dash, or do you have to re-assemble everything to test it. I suspect it will require re-assembly.
