Default A6 c6 vs A6 c7

Is the 2014 A6 transmission the same as the A6 in the c6. I loved my base c6 but when I traded it for an 18 Stingray with the A8 transmission the
18 didn't have the same acceleration. So I traded it for a 19 Grand Sport m7. I don't care for the Grand Sport so I am thinking about trading for a 14 Stingray A6.

I believe so but I have been wrong before but I think the auto tranny was a carryover. I'm sorry you don't care for the GS. The '14 (mine is a '14 though it's a manual) actually defied the odds by being the most trouble free of all the C7 years which is quite rare when dealing with first year cars (we bought a '10 Toyota Prius, the first year of that model and it had a small bucketload of (minor) problems/bugs, I mean a TOYOTA?). Part of that was a tried and true auto tranny, compared with the A8 they came out with in '15. Sorry you've taken the long way "home" but good luck with finding a keeper....

. Thanks. I should have kept the 18 Stingray. It was one owner, it just didn't have the performance of my c6 with A8 transmission. I thought that I would get use to the short throw shifter in the Grand sport, but I can't get use to it. The Grand Sport is a 19 but for 17k miles it's kind of worn out. I found the 18 so I may buy it back.

Sounds like you may better off to just get another C6, since your have had two C7s and have not been pleased with either.

The GM at the dealership told me would me order me a c8 for the sticker price. I think I will get the Stingray back.

Well, the C8 will definitely improve on the performance level. Really surprised that the ‘18 Stingray didn’t give you better performance than the C6 you had. I have a ‘14 A6 and I have no complaints about the car’s performance.

Same here. The C7 A8 shifts like lightning, at least it did in my GS.

Richard I had a LS3 C6 A6 that had bolt ons, ( headers. Ported intake manifold and was tuned , I now have a C7 A8 with the same bolt ons and is tuned, I raced both cars excessively at the track and although it does not feel like it is faster , all the way from stock to modified , each step of the way the C7 is much faster than my C6 in both the 60 ft times and the 1/4 mile

I attributed the feeling to the fact that the C7 is so much more refined than the C6 ... trust me. It might not feel like you are going as fast but I can assure you with a 100% certainly that you are going faster
it's not the transmission....

it is geared lower because it only has 6 gears. look at the effective ratios of the A8. They are way lower than the A6

Lock in Launch control and you will feel like you are shot out if a cannon. I run consistent 1.7 or lower 60 ft times on factory run craps ....

I would love to know how you are measuring what "feels " faster because your seat of your pants meter is off 😁😁😁

My Stingray didn't have the better exhaust. The Grand Sport does. I love the rev match on the M7 transmission but it the worse shifting car I have ever owned. I think it is damaged by a previous owner.
