Flood clear feature...
Just watched a video on the C4-C7 feature called flood clear. You press the brake pedal and gas pedal all the way down then hit the start button. Your engine cranks without adding fuel so it clears it if its flooded. Then release the gas pedal and it starts right up. Also, a very good way to circulate oil after an oil change or winter slumber without damaging your engine. Maybe I'm just discovering something that everyone else already knew but being a newer C7 owner I found this feature to be helpful and wanted to pass it on.
Heres the video:

Thanks for sharing this has been posted before but a good refresher for those not always on the forum or new.

If the engine does not start and no DIC message is displayed, wait 15 seconds before trying again to let the cranking motor cool down. If the engine does not start after five to 10 seconds, especially in very cold weather (below −18 °C or 0 °F), it could be flooded with too much gasoline. Try pushing the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor while cranking for up to 15 seconds maximum. Wait at least 15 seconds between each try, to allow the cranking motor to cool down. When the engine starts, let go of the accelerator. If the vehicle starts briefly but then stops again, repeat these steps. This clears the extra gasoline from the engine.

Mine did. The PO tried to sell it as a "security feature". What happened was that the relay melted and rather than to do it right with cutting it all off, soldering in a new holder and all that, he decided to drill a hole and put a push button. So you turn the key to "run" and push the button so that if a thief comes, he won't know where it is, hence the "security feature". And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

Ive been here for a while and never heard of this. Interesting. Not sure you can flood a C7 but I may be wrong.

Great, but in practice... trivia the vast majority will never need.

Flood Mode discovered after I got tired of pulling the pump relay in my 2011 GS. 6 spd. Do you have to depress the brake pedal? It appears that I lost the Flood Mode function. Is there a fix?

If your meth pump goes crazy & pump that **** & it get a ton on the plugs this c7 is not going to start. But per say I can see this car doing it unless a inj r so keeps pumping gas in on the plugs. But that is why now plugs can go 100,k miles... Robert

I use this feature when I start the car for the first time in the Spring. However I don’t remember putting my foot on the brake. Maybe I do and just don’t remember it. OPS. (Old People ****).

Interesting video and learned something new today about the C4-C7 Corvettes. Thanks for posting this.

I know, old thread, but I was always. a big proponent of using Flood clear mode when starting my c6z that sits for long periods of time between being driven. It has always worked flawlessly. Yesterday however, the car started and revved to redline. The exact opposite of what I wanted.
so now I'm gun shy. Not sure how or why it happened -- but its really bothering me -- felt like abuse,
I didn't think it was supposed to start at all with throttle input. My foot was to the floor.
ugh.

FYI - this is nothing special to the C7. This has been standard function for fuel injected vehicles for decades.
My 1994 Camaro does this. - 30 years old.
